An automatic teller machine managing system includes an automatic teller machine and a carrier for exchanging a medium, such as, paper money, with the automatic teller machine. The system further includes a mechanism for moving the carrier relative to the automatic teller machine, and a coupling unit which is movably arranged and couples the carrier and the automatic teller machine with each other. In the system, the medium is carried one by one, via the coupling unit, from the carrier to the automatic teller machine or from the automatic teller machine to the carrier.

A ticket issuing apparatus has a slip storing section for storing slips which allow data to be magnetically written therein and printed out thereon, a magnetic data writing section for writing magnetic data in a slip fed from the slip storing section, a magnetic data reading section for reading the magnetic data out of the slip to see if the magnetic data is correct data, a printing section for printing data on the slip, a discharging section for discharging the slip after the magnetic writing and printing operations to the outside of the apparatus, and a transport path section for transporting the slip from the slip storing section to various other sections mentioned above. Part of the transport section is implemented as a circular transport path section. The magnetic data writing section and magnetic data reading section are arranged on the circular transport path section. The printing section is located in the vicinity of the circular transport path section.

Ticket issuing apparatus

An automatic renting apparatus is for automatically renting rental articles and restoring returned rental articles. The automatic renting apparatus stores information concerning rental articles that have been rented out, rental articles to supplement or replace the stock, and the scheduled date of replacement or supplement. When the patron subscribes in advance for a rental article, information is displayed on a display unit to enable the patron to select a desired rental article for which the patron desires to make advance subscription. Upon the selection of the desired rental article and a desired renting date by the patron, information concerning the desired rental article and the desired renting date is stored in a subscription information storage unit.

Automatic renting apparatus

A ticket processing terminal device includes a hopper to store medium that is to become prescribed tickets, a separation and pick-up section for separating and picking up one sheet of medium at a time from the hopper, a stacker to store those of the tickets inserted through the insertion opening which are replaced by the medium, a print section for printing on the ticket that has been inserted through the insertion opening or the medium picked up from the hopper, and is to be discharged through a discharge opening, a transport path to transport the tickets and medium between the above mentioned component elements, and a ticket information reader for magnetically or optically reading the information that has been given to the ticket, and a magnetic write section disposed along the transport path for writing, erasing or rewriting on the magnetic stripe if the ticket inserted through the insertion opening or the medium picked up from the hopper has such a magnetic stripe. The terminal device can accept a plurality of tickets, temporarily store them, and subsequently reissue either modified versions of less than the original number inserted or a new medium to replace the plural inserted tickets.

Diagnosis data for respective portions of an apparatus are collected from respective sensors provided on the apparatus at the respective portions thereof and stored in a memory for each of the respective portions. These diagnosis data are the amount of change with time and frequency of occurrence of abnormal operation. The amount of change with time is yielded from the number of treatments for a detection object of each sensor, while the frequency of occurrence of abnormal operations is provided as a ratio of the number of anbormal operations detected by the respective sensors to the number of treatments by the particular object or part involved. The resulting diagnosis data is compared with a predetermined reference value, and when the diagnosis data exceeds the reference value, a prediction alarm flag indicative of a prediction of necessary maintencance to prevent trouble from occuring is added to the diagnosis data and stored in the memory.

Re-dispensable bills, such as less skewed bills and successive bills, among these rejected bills which are normal but rendered undiscriminatable while being dispensed from the storage boxes to the clerk-side bill slot are temporarily stacked, in the customer-side bill slot, and the bills are stored from the customer-side bill slot into the storage boxes when desired bills stacked in the clerk-side bill slot are completely dispensed. An automatic bank note depositing and dispensing machine includes a first detector for detecting when the number of bank notes in a container is smaller than a first prescribed number, a second detector for detecting when the number of bank notes in the container is larger than a second prescribed number, a bank note transfer assembly for delivering bank notes to and receiving bank notes from a fixed or self-propelled external delivery unit in response to output signals from the first and second detectors, a first feeder for receiving bank notes via the bank note transfer assembly from the external delivery unit when the number of bank notes in the container is detected by the first detector as being smaller than the first prescribed number, and for feeding the received bank notes to the bank note container, and a second feeder for feeding bank notes via the bank note transfer assembly from the bank note container to the external delivery unit when the number of bank notes in the container is detected by the second detector as being larger than the second prescribed number.
