A resin foam having fine foam cells is provided at low cost. A method of producing the foam includes preparing a molten resin composition and continuous extrusion foaming of the molten resin composition. The molten resin composition is prepared by melting a resin mixture of resins (A) and (B) by dissolving a foaming agent into the resin mixture. Resins (A) and (B) respectively have appropriately selected glass transition temperatures and resin (B) particles of appropriate diameter are dispersed in resin (A).

This invention provides a method for stably adding a predetermined amount of supercritical carbon dioxide at a fixed delivery rate into a forming machine and also a process for producing an expanded thermoplastic resin product by making use of the addition method. Disclosed is a process for the production of an injection-expansion molded, thermoplastic resin product. The process comprises a gas dissolving step, a cooling step, a metering and injection step, and an expansion controlling step. Specifically, a thermoplastic resin is molten in a continuous plasticator (1), supercritical carbon dioxide and/or nitrogen is added as a blowing agent, and the blowing agent and the thermoplastic resin are formed into a mutually-dissolved state. A rubber-modified styrene type resin composition excellent in sliding properties which comprises 100 parts by weight of a rubber-modified styrene type resin and 2.2 to 3.2 parts by weight of dimethyl silicone oil having a viscosity ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 centistokes at 25.degree. C., the styrene type resin comprising 3 to 8% by weight of a rubber-like polymer which is present in the form of microgels having an average particle size ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 micron, and having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.53 to 0.65 and the content of methanol-soluble matter in the range of from 0.5 to 1.5% by weight, is herein disclosed. The rubber-modified styrene type resin composition is excellent in its sliding properties and thus does not provide a molded product having poor appearance during molding. The rubber-modified styrene type resin composition is used to form mechanical parts in the fields of household appliances and OA apparatuses.

A styrene resin composition excellent in sliding properties which comprises 100 parts by weight of a styrene polymer, 2.0 to 4.0 parts by weight of dimethylsilicone oil having a viscosity ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 centistokes at 25.degree. C. and 0.05 to 8 parts by weight of maleic anhydride monomer or 0.05 to 50 parts by weight of a maleic anhydride-styrene copolymer containing at least 5% by weight of maleic anhydride monomer units is herein disclosed. The styrene resin composition is excellent in sliding properties and thus does not provide a molded product having poor appearance during molding. The styrene resin composition is used to form mechanical parts in the fields of household appliances and office automation apparatuses.
