A ROM is divided into a first area and a second area. A program is stored in the second area and a jump command to the stored program is stored in a specific address of the second area. A call command for the specific address of the second area is stored in the first area.

A current detection method for an electric motor which detects phase currents of the electric motor driven by a power converter that provides ON/OFF control of bridge-connected switching elements, based on a pulse-width modulation excitation pattern, to convert a direct current into poly-phase alternating currents. The method includes connecting a current detecting element which produces a signal corresponding to a current value at the direct current side of the power converter and changing the pulse-width modulation excitation pattern by executing a shift of time of any of the phases of the pulse-width modulation excitation pattern so that a signal directly or indirectly corresponding to the phase currents is produced at the current detecting element. The method also includes detecting the phase currents of the electric motor based on the signal produced at the current detecting element and the excitation pattern which has been changed.

An air conditioner and a method for controlling an air conditioner which can operate in at least two operation modes, such as a cooling mode and heating mode. The capacity of the air conditioner is determined based on a difference between a set temperature and the temperature detected by a room temperature sensor every time a set time has elapsed, and the amount of variation of the detected temperature over the set time. The capacity can be controlled using PID control, fuzzy control, genetic algorithm control, or the like. The set time is varied based on the operating mode. Also, the set time can be varied in accordance with the volume of air blown into the room from the air conditioner, the direction of the blown air, the performance rating of the air conditioner and/or the size of the room to be conditioned.

An air conditioner has a body casing provided with an air inlet port and an air blow-off port, a vertical wind shifting element disposed in the body casing for vertically shifting a blow-off direction of wind through the blow-off port, a horizontal wind shifting element disposed in the body casing for horizontally shifting a blow-off direction of wind through a blow-off port and a control apparatus for controlling the vertical and horizontal wind shifting elements. The control apparatus comprises a first driving circuit for driving the vertical wind shifting element, a second driving circuit for driving the horizontal wind shifting element, and a control unit for controlling operations of the first and second driving circuits. A switching circuit for switching operations of the vertical and horizontal wind shifting elements may be further provided. The first driving circuit is controlled to drive the vertical wind shifting element to blow off the wind with a predetermined time interval and the second driving circuit is controlled to drive the horizontal wind shifting element with a predetermined time interval after once fixing the vertical wind shifting element. Thereafter, the vertical wind shifting element is driven to blow out the wind in a mode different from a previous blow-off mode.

A wireless remote control system has a hold-type wireless remote controller and a fixedly mounted main controller. When the wireless remote controller sets an operation time of a controlled object, it sends to the main controller a first code representative of a setting time corresponding to a difference between the operation time and a current time. Upon reception of the first code, the main controller sets the setting time at its timer. When a current time becomes the operation time, the wireless remote controller transmits a second code for operating the controlled object. If the main controller can receive the second code, the controlled object can be operated in response to the received second code. If on the other hand the main controller cannot receive the second code, the controlled object is operated by a time-up signal of the time in the main controller.

For determining the frequency set value, a plurality of temperature deviation zones are defined; the frequency set value is changed when the deviation transits from one of the zones to another; and the frequency set value is also changed when the deviation continues to be within one of the zones of a relatively great deviation over a predetermined length of time.
