There is provided a portable terminal capable of acquiring sound information successfully simply by being brought near to or into contact with the ear without the necessity of careful handling. The portable terminal includes at least a vibration member having a first surface exposed to an exterior, a vibration element operative to vibrate the vibration member in response to an electric signal corresponding to sound information, and electronic circuitry that outputs the electric signal, a difference in amplitude between individual places within the first surface of the vibration member in a vibrating state being less than or equal to 60 dB in terms of a ratio of maximum value to minimum value of amplitude. A portable terminal can be obtained that is capable of acquiring sound information successfully simply by being brought near to or into contact with the ear without the necessity of careful handling.

A piezoelectric vibration component and a portable terminal each include a piezoelectric vibration elementand a power supply line. The piezoelectric vibration elementincludes at least: a layered structurein which a plurality of internal electrodes and piezoelectric layers are layered in a first direction; and surface electrodesandelectrically connected to the internal electrodes. The piezoelectric vibration elementbends and vibrates, and its amplitude changes in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The power supply lineincludes at least: a conductive pathincluding a connection partbonded to a surface electrode; and a conductive pathincluding a connection partbonded to a surface electrode. The connection parthas a plurality of partial electrodesandthat extend in a third direction perpendicular to both the first direction and the second direction.

A piezoelectric vibration element capable of reducing occurrence of unnecessary vibration, and a piezoelectric vibration device and a portable terminal using the same are disclosed. The piezoelectric vibration element includes a plurality of electrode layers and a plurality of piezoelectric layers being stacked along a first direction, the piezoelectric vibration element having two surfaces that face each other to be at intervals in the first direction, and vibrating in bending mode in the first direction with an amplitude varying along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction according to input of an electric signal, one of the two surfaces having such a shape that a central portion thereof in a third direction perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction protrudes as compared with opposite end portions thereof in the third direction.

Piezoelectric vibration element, piezoelectric vibration device, and portable terminal

A low-profile vibration device capable of generation of great vibration and a portable terminal employing the vibration device. The vibration device includes: a support body; a vibration member supported so that its periphery is connected to the support body, the vibration member having a first portion which is connected to the support body, and a second portion which is located inside the first portion and is not connected to the support body; and a vibration element whose one surface in a first direction is connected to one main surface of the second portion in the vibration member, bending vibration of the vibration element in the first direction whose amplitudes vary along a second direction perpendicular to the first direction being caused by electrical signal input.

Vibration device and portable terminal employing the same

A piezoelectric vibration device capable of being made thin and generating strong vibration, and a portable terminal using the same. Disclosed are a piezoelectric vibration device including at least: a support body; a vibration member that is mounted to the support body to be able to vibrate; a vibration element capable of being independently subjected to bending vibration by application of an electric signal; and a deformable first connecting member that is at least partly formed of a viscoelastic body, the deformable first connecting member being disposed between a first surface of the vibration element that is a bending surface and one main surface of the vibration member, and connecting the first surface of the vibration element and the one main surface of the vibration member, and a portable terminal using the piezoelectric vibration device.
