A compound represented by the formula (1): ##STR1## wherein Ar.sub.1 represents an arylene group; Ar.sub.2 and Ar.sub.3 independently represent an aryl group or an arylene group; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be identical or not, independently represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having a carbon number of 4 or less, or R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 both represent --SiR.sub.4 R.sub.5 R.sub.6 (R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6, which may be identical or not, independently represent an alkyl group, aralkyl group or aryl group which may be substituted); R.sub.1 represents --SiR.sub.7 R.sub.8 R.sub.9 (R.sub.7, R.sub.8 and R.sub.9, which may be identical or not, independently represent an alkyl group, cycloalkyl group, aralkyl group or aryl group which may be substituted, or none (only in the case where R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represent --SiR.sub.4 R.sub.5 R.sub.6), one or two of R.sub.7, R.sub.8 and R.sub.9 represent the following: ##STR2## wherein Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2, Ar.sub.3, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 have the same definitions as above), a method of its production and a photoreceptor for electrophotography incorporating it as a charge transport material. The present invention is directed to a silicon-containing triarylamine compound represented by the formula (1): ##STR1## wherein Q.sub.2 and Q.sub.3 independently represent a hydrogen atom or --CH.sub.2 SiR.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3 group (R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be identical or not, independently represent an alkyl group, cycloalkyl group, aralkyl group or aryl group which may be substituted); Ar.sub.1, Ar.sub.2 and Ar.sub.3 independently represent an arylene group which may be substituted; Q.sub.1 represents a --CH.sub.2 SiR.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.3 group, --CH.sub.2 SiR.sub.1 R.sub.2 R.sub.4 group (R.sub.4 represents the following: ##STR2## wherein Q.sub.2 and Q.sub.3 independently represent a hydrogen atom) or --CH.sub.2 SiR.sub.1 R.sub.4 R.sub.4 group, a method of its production and a photoreceptor for electrophotography incorporating it as a charge transport material. The photoreceptor is very excellent in sensitivity and durability.

Disclosed is a recording material employing an electron donating colorless dye and an electron accepting compound, an improvement being present in that said electron accepting compound is a compound represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein Ar represents a phenyl group, a substituted phenyl group, a benzyl group, a substituted benzyl group, a naphthyl group or a substituted naphthyl group.

A photoreceptor useful for electrophotography and comprises (a) an electrically conductive substrate, (b) an electric charge carrier generation layer and (c) an electric charge carrier transport layer containing therein an electric charge carrier transport compound having the formula (1): ##STR1## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.1 ' and R.sub.1 ' each are hydrogen, a linear or branched alkyl, a linear or branched alkyl having a substituent(s), an aryl or an aryl having a substituent(s), R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.2 ', R.sub.3 ', R.sub.2 ' and R.sub.3 ' each are hydrogen, a linear or branched alkyl, a linear or branched alkyl having a substituent(s), an aryl, an aryl having a substituent(s), an alkenyl, an alkenyl having a substituent(s), a heterocyclic ring or a heterocyclic ring having a substituent(s), R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may form a ring with their adjacent carbon, R.sub.2 ' and R.sub.3 ' may form a ring with their adjacent carbon and R.sub.2 ' and R.sub.3 ' may form a ring with their adjacent carbon and, A is a trivalent, aromatic hydrocarbon group.

Ion transport photoreceptor for electrophotography

A highly reactive, water-absorptive resin is prepared by (1) impregnating a highly water-absorptive resin having carboxyl or carboxylate groups and a water content of 50 percent by weight or lower with a hydrophilic polymer or monomer having a reactive group and (2) polymerizing said monomer or crosslinking said polymer with a crosslinking agent.

A polyurethane is prepared with use of a catalyst comprising a compound having the formula: ##STR1## in which n is an integer of 2 to 12, A is a hydrogen or a group of --CH.sub.2 CHRCH.sub.2 NH.sub.2 and R is hdyrogen or methyl, provided that n is 6 when A is hydrogen. The compound scarcely smells and does not elute out of the polyurethane article. The process is easy to control.

Catalyst for preparation of polyurethane and process for the preparation

A polymer in the form of particles is water-insoluble and water-sellable, containing carboxyl or carboxylate groups. It has a physiological saline absorption quantity of 40 to 90 grams per one gram of the polymer, a physiological saline absorption rate of at least 8 ml per 0.3 gram of the polymer, a gel strength of 33 to 200 g/cm2 when it has been swollen to saturation with ion-exchange water. It is useful as an absorbent in a sanitary article.

Absorptive material

The twisted yarn is prepared by twisting (1) a single yarn comprising a water-insoluble fiber having a degree of water swelling of at least 10 cc/g or (2) a plurality of single yarns comprising a water-insoluble fiber having a degree of water swelling of at least 10 cc/g or a plurality of yarns comprising at least 50% by weight of such single yarns and water-nonswellable yarns so that the twist constant is at least 2.5.

A highly water absorbent polymer having high resistance to salt solution is prepared by crosslinking a hyrophilic polymer or copolymer having carboxyl and/or carboxylate groups and water content of 10 to 40 wt. % with a crosslinking agent having at least two functional groups capable of reaction with said carboxyl and carboxylate group. An improved hydrophilic polymer is produced by polymerizing a monomer with a persulfate and a hydroperoxide as combined initiators. Another improved hydrophilic polymer is prepared by polymerizing a monomer with a persulfate and adding a hydroperoxide to the resulting polymer.

Process for producing highly water absorptive polymer

A process is disclosed for producing a water-absorbent material by dispersing and suspending an aqueous solution of a water-soluble, ethylenically unsaturated monomer in a hydrocarbon or halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon in the presence of an oil-soluble cellulose ester or cellulose ether and then carrying out the polymerization using a water-soluble radical-polymerization initiator, characterized by the feature that one or more water-soluble or water-dispersible surfactants is (are) added to the system during or after the polymerization reaction.

Process for producing water-absorbent materials having excellent water

Water-insoluble, high water-absorbent polymer beads are prepared by dispersing and suspending an aqueous solution of a water-soluble, ethylenically unsaturated monomer containing a small amount of a crosslinking agent in a dispersion medium of a hydrocarbon or a halogenated aromatic hydrocarbon, carrying out the bead polymerization in the presence of a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator and a protecting colloid comprising a cellulose ester or cellulose ether which is oil-soluble at the polymerization temperature, and separating the resulting beads.

Carboxymethyl cellulose fibers are manufactured by reacting a starting cellulose with an alkaline solution containing an etherifying agent dissolved therein while the cellulose is filled in a reactor and the solution is circulating by a pump so as to come into continuous contact with the cellulose.

A disposable diaper comprising a water-absorbing layer located between a liquid-permeable surface sheet and a liquid-impermeable backing sheet, wherein water-absorbing shrinkable fibers, which shrink in the direction of the fiber length and are rendered elastic on absorption of water, are fixed to and extend along the central portion in the lengthwise direction of the disposable diaper in such a manner that the water-absorbing shrinkable fibers are not placed on top of the water-absorbing layer, and wherein means is provided so that the water-absorbing shrinkable fibers become wetted when the diaper is wetted, said water-absorbing shrinkable fibers exhibiting a percent shrinkage of at least 15% and a shrinking force of at least 100 g when said fibers are wetted.
