A printing apparatus includes an automatic opening mechanism for an opening/closing cover, a carriage that has a print head configured to perform printing on a medium and that moves in a direction intersecting a transport direction of the medium, and a discharge portion that is exposed in a state in which the opening/closing cover is opened and that discharges a printed material. The automatic opening mechanism includes a lever for releasing maintenance of a closed state of the opening/closing cover by movement of the carriage. A colorimetric apparatus has a shutter unit that can shift between a closed position and an open position. The apparatus body has: a shifting member that can shift between a projection position, at which the shifting member projects in a first direction, and a retraction position, at which the shifting member retracts in a second direction; a first pressing member that presses the shifting member in the first direction; and an operation conversion means that converts the shift operation of the shifting member with respect to the apparatus body to the shift operation of the shutter unit. In a state in which the shifting member is at the projection position, the shutter unit is at the closed position. When the shifting member shifts from the projection position to the retraction position, the shutter unit shifts from the closed position to the open position.

Colorimetric apparatus

A recording apparatus includes: a housing; a recording section that performs a recording operation on a medium and is disposed inside the housing; a storage section that stores the medium; a transport route along which the medium is transported; a transport section that transports the medium; a reading section that reads an original sheet and is positioned higher than the recording section; a supply section that supplies the original sheet to the reading section; and a supply route through which the original sheet passes. Each of the supply and transport routes is formed at substantially right angles to a width of the housing. The transport route has a curved section in which the medium is turned over. The reading section is positioned behind the recording section in a depth direction from the front to rear surface of the housing.

A medium feeder includes: a path blocking member configured to rotate to switch between a blocking state that blocks a feed path for a medium fed out from a tray at a position of the guide member, and an open state that opens the feed path; and a switching unit that performs switching of the path blocking member, wherein the switching unit includes a rack configured to be displaced in a feeding direction in which a medium is fed from the tray to thereby perform switching of the path blocking member, and a pinion gear that drives the rack.
