An apparatus is provided for widening the woven conductive sheath that Surround a shielded cable. The apparatus includes opposed punches that move into Contact with the exposed conductive sheath. Forces exerted by the punches are Sufficient to cause the extreme end of the exposed conductive sheath to be flared outwardly. The punches may be moved circumferentially around the wire for successive punching operations to achieve a uniform flaring. The punches also may be moved axially further away from the flared end to perform a second series of punches to flare the conductive sheath even further. The flared conductive sheath then can be folded over the insulating sheath.

Apparatus for processing an end of a shielded cable

A terminal temporary holding jig (J) is provided for a later-inserted terminal (T). The terminal temporary holding jig (J) includes a terminal holder ( ) secured to a base (B) of an automatic terminal inserting apparatus. A lid ( ) is provided for opening and closing terminal insertion grooves ( ) that extend in forward and backward directions in the terminal holder ( ). The lid ( ) can be attached magnetically in a closed condition on the terminal holder ( ). A locking member ( ) is provided in the lid ( ) and includes a leaf spring with saw teeth that project obliquely backward into the terminal insertion grooves ( ). A later-inserted terminal (T) can be inserted through a front end opening of the terminal insertion groove ( ) in this state, and can be locked in the terminal insertion groove ( ) by the engagement of a step &ldquo;b&rdquo; of the terminal (T) with the leading end of the locking member ( ). The terminal (T) is taken out by rotating the base (B) into an inverted position, opening the lid ( ) and pushing the terminal (T) and the wire (A) down together.

Terminal temporary holding jig and an automatic terminal inserting apparatus

A terminal crimping unit providing improved functionality. The pressuring unit is installed on the terminal crimping unit. The pressuring unit is equipped with a plural number of pressure members for crimping the terminal fittings. The plural number of pressure members are unified in one frame body. The frame body is designed such that can be taken off and put on as one unit from the shank. By having only one motion for putting on and taking off the frame body, the plural number of pressuring members, including the crimpers, can be maintained as one unit.

Terminal crimping unit

An apparatus and method are provided to widen a woven sheath of a wire. The apparatus and method are operative to punch an exposed woven sheath S,in radial directions by a pair of punches,to deform and widen the woven sheath. The woven sheath S,can be deformed and widened easily even if it has a multi-layer construction.

Method for processing an end of a shielded cable

Recesses 12 are formed on an upper surface 10a of a turntable 10 detachably mountable on a support member 20. The recesses 12 are arranged at a pitch of a specified angle .theta. on a plurality of concentric circles C1 to C4 centered on a longitudinal axis 11. The turntable 10 is slid along an x-axis by an air cylinder 80 and is intermittently rotated by the specified angle .theta. by an air motor 40. In this way, a desired recess 12 can be moved to a receiving position P. The waterproof plugs can be securely supplied. A preparation for changing the kind of the waterproof can be made only by replacing the turntable, with the result that the preparation can be easily made within a short period of time.

Method of supplying parts and supplying device

A method of fitting a rubber stopper for a water-proof connector terminal onto an end portion of an electric wire includes the steps of: successively feeding a group of rubber stoppers aligned in a row in a state wherein each of the rubber stoppers has its longitudinal axis extending vertically; transferring each of the rubber stoppers into a stopper housing portion; retaining the electric wire disposed on an imaginary line passing through the center of the stopper housing portion; and press-fitting the wire into the rubber stopper, whereby the rubber stoppers are successively and continuously fitted on the respective wires. Also disclosed is an apparatus which may be suitably employed to carry out the above-described method. The apparatus includes an aligned stopper successively feeding section, a stopper transfer section, a rotary conveyor section, and a wire press-fitting section. The apparatus is further provided with an automatic control circuit adapted to allow the respective operations of the above-described secitons to be sequentially interlocked with each other.

Method of fitting rubber stoppers on wires

A method of fitting a rubber stopper for a water-proof connector terminal onto an end portion of an electric wire includes the steps of: successively feeding a group of rubber stoppers aligned in a row in a state wherein each of the rubber stoppers has its longitudinal axis extending vertically; transferring each of the rubber stoppers into a stopper housing portion; retaining the electric wire disposed on an imaginary line passing through the center of the stopper housing portion; and press-fitting the wire into the rubber stopper, whereby the rubber stoppers are successively and continuously fitted on the respective wires. Also disclosed is an apparatus which may be suitably employed to carry out the above-described method. The apparatus includes an aligned stopper successively feeding section, a stopper transfer section, a rotary conveyor section, and a wire press-fitting section. The apparatus is further provided with an automatic control circuit adapted to allow the respective operations of the above-described section to be sequentially interlocked with each other.
