An adsorbent for an oral administration, comprising a porous spherical carbonaceous substance wherein a diameter is 0.01 to 1 mm, a specific surface area determined by a BET method is 700 m /g or more, a volume of pores having a pore diameter of 20 to 15000 nm is from not less than 0.04 mL/g to less than 0.10 mL/g, a total amount of acidic groups is 0.30 to 1.20 meq/g, and a total amount of basic groups is 0.20 to 1.00 meq/g, is disclosed.

Disclosed herein is a method for examining cells, comprising subjecting the cells to an antigen-antibody reaction treatment, then measuring a pattern of the electrophoretic mobility of the cells and comparing the electrophoretic property of the cells under examination with the electrophoretic property of standard cells.

Examining cells by electrophoresis

Cells, particularly lymphocytes in peripheral blood or lymphatic tissues such as thymus, spleen and lymph node, are examined by measuring an electrophoretic property, such as a fraction of the number of the cells having an electrophoretic mobility within a predetermined range to the total number of the cells to be examined, with the aid of an automatic electrophoretic apparatus which is operated in a medium of the physiological conditions and by reversing the electric field, and comparing the obtained pattern of the electrophoretic property of the cells to be examined with the pattern of the electrophoretic property of normal host-cells, in order to diagnose cancer.

Method for examining cells by electrophoresis

A fungus belonging to genus Coriolus of the class Basidiomycetes is subjected to submerged culture in a liquid medium and the obtained culture is dried and extracted with an aqueous solvent, and then the substances with molecular weights of less than 5,000 are eliminated from the extract solution, whereby a polysaccharide having anti-cancer and other pharmacodynamic effects is obtained in a high yield.

A heating assembly having a protector for its sheet-type heating element, which is made from a sheet containing certain electroconductive fibrous or particulate materials such as carbon fibers. A detector element is formed on an intermediate resin layer having a negative temperature coefficient of resistivity, and two electrode layers are adhered to the opposite surfaces of the intermediate layer. The detector element is combined with or adhered to the sheet-type heating element, so that the whole surface of the heating element is completely covered thereby. A controlling circuit is connected between the detector element and the sheet type heating element.
