A gas generator includes, a cylindrical housing provided with an ignition device and a diffuser, and an inner cylindrical member defining a gap with an inner circumferential wall surface of the cylindrical housing and leading to a gas discharge port. The inner cylindrical member is formed of a plurality of cylindrical members having gas inlet-outlet holes and connected in an axial direction. An opening of each of the cylindrical members has concave-convex portions for fitting the cylindrical members together. Both ends of the connected cylindrical members have a first protrusion on a side of the ignition device serving as a first abutment portion, and a second protrusion on the side of the diffuser portion serving as a second abutment portion. The first and second abutment portions abut the inner circumferential wall surface of the cylindrical housing and have a hole or a cutout to allow a gas to pass.

Gas generator

The present invention provides a gas generator wherein a diffuser portion having a gas discharge port is disposed at one end of a cylindrical housing; an ignition device is disposed at the other end of the cylindrical housing; an axially-movable metallic partition wall having a plurality of through-holes is disposed between the ignition device and the diffuser portion; a space between the partition wall and the ignition device is an ignition device chamber charged with a molded article of a first gas generating agent; a space between the partition wall and the diffuser portion is a combustion chamber charged with a molded article of a second gas generating agent; the partition wall has a circular bottom surface and an annular wall extending, in a single direction, perpendicularly to an outer circumference of the circular bottom surface, and the circular bottom surface is disposed so as to be on the diffuser portion side; the ignition device has an igniter having a disk-shaped ignition portion protruding toward the partition wall and a metallic annular member having an annular wall and disposed around the ignition portion; and the annular wall of the annular member protrudes to the partition wall further than the distal end surface of the ignition portion.

The present invention provides a gas generator in which an effect of decreasing the temperature of a combustion gas and an effect of capturing mist of the combustion gas are adjusted. A cup member disposed in a cylindrical housing has one gas passage hole selected from a first gas passage hole, which is formed in part of a circumferential wall on the side of an opening, a second gas passage hole, which is formed in part of a circumferential wall on the side of a bottom portion, and a third gas passage hole, which is formed between the first gas passage hole and the second gas passage hole. By selecting one of the above gas passage holes, the effect of decreasing the temperature of the combustion gas and the effect of capturing mist of the combustion gas are adjusted.

A gas generator includes a cylindrical housing, a diffuser portion, a first combustion chamber defined by a first porous plate member, a second combustion chamber defined by a second porous plate member, and an ignition device having an ignition portion attached to an igniter collar. The first porous plate member comprises first through holes arranged in the vicinity of a peripheral edge portion. An annular space is formed between an outer peripheral surface of the ignition portion and an inner peripheral wall surface of the cylindrical housing. The height (H) of a top surface of the ignition portion from the igniter collar and a smallest length (Lmin) of a first gas generating agent in the first combustion chamber satisfies a relation Lmin&#x3c;H. An axis of the cylindrical housing is coincident with a central line of the ignition portion, the first porous plate member, and the second porous plate member.

A tubular part for fixing and holding a fixing object part inserted therein, the fixing object part being fixed by inwardly crimping a circumferential wall on a side of one end opening of the tubular part, including: the tubular part having a chamfered corner on an inner peripheral side of the circumferential wall on the side of one end opening, a degree of chamfering being such that chamfering is performed between a point at a thickness Tmeasured from an outer circumferential surface of the one end opening and a point at a length Lmeasured from an end surface of the opening, and when a thickness of the circumferential wall of the opening is represented as T, (T&#x2212;T)/T being 0.05 to 0.9 and (T&#x2212;T)/Lbeing 0.8 to 1.2.

Tubular part

An inflator includes: a pressurized gas filled with a pressurized gas and having a first end and a second end; a gas generator being connected to the first end, and including therein an ignition device and a molded article of a gas generating; a diffuser portion connected to the second end, and being provided with a gas discharge port; a communication path provided between the pressurized gas chamber and the gas generator and closed by a rupturable plate; a cap provided to cover the rupturable plate from the pressurized gas chamber side and having a plurality of gas holes formed at a circumference thereof, the minimum diameter (d min) of the gas hole being equal to or smaller than the larger one of the minimum diameter (D min) and the length (L) of the molded article of the gas generating composition.

Inflator

An inflator comprises one igniterand first and second gas discharge portsanddisposed separately. After the first rupturable plateis broken by an activation of the igniter, breaking energy moves inside the transfer tube, so that the second rupturable plateis broken.
