An intake system () for a vehicle internal combustion engine is provided in which a first air intake duct (), having an air intake inlet () to inhale external air, is connected to an air cleaner box (). A second air intake duct () is also connected to the air cleaner box. The air intake inlet is closer to the air cleaner box than the second air intake duct is. The cross section area of a second air intake duct is greater than the cross section area of the first air intake duct. The center axis of the second air intake duct at an end on the side of a second air intake opening () intersects with the center axis of the first air intake duct at an end on the side of a first air intake opening ().

Intake system for vehicle internal combustion engine

A housing of an air cleaner has an air inlet port and an air outlet port, and incorporates an air filter. In the housing, a fuel adsorption filter is arranged downstream of the air filter in such manner as to intersect an air passage. An open portion and a sheet-like adsorption portion are vertically defined in an outer frame of the fuel adsorption filter. The adsorption portion has a fuel adsorbing function. A weir is provided in a boundary between the open portion and the adsorption portion. The weir limits air flow from the upstream side of the adsorption portion to the upstream side of the open portion. A flow straightening plate having a flow straightening function is provided in the open portion.

Fuel adsorption filter and air cleaner

An evaporated fuel adsorbing mechanism for an internal combustion engine includes an adsorbing member provided in an intake passage of the internal combustion engine to adsorb evaporated fuel that flows back through the intake passage when the engine is stopped. The adsorbing member includes a connecting portion connected to an inner peripheral surface of the intake passage, an end portion that is away from the inner peripheral surface, and that is disposed downstream of the connecting portion in an intake-air flow direction in which intake air flows, and an upstream-side surface that faces toward an upstream side in the intake-air flow direction, and a downstream-side surface that faces toward a downstream side in the intake-air flow direction. The upstream-side surface and the downstream-side surface extend from the connecting portion to the end portion.

Evaporated fuel adsorbing mechanism for internal combustion engine

An engine ECU executes a program including the steps of: detecting an accelerator position; calculating a load factor KL of an engine based on the accelerator position or the like; when the engine is in a high load region, raising a pressure of fuel supplied to an in-cylinder injector and increasing a degree of opening of a throttle valve and/or increasing a lift amount of an intake valve; and when the engine is not in the high load region, lowering the pressure of the fuel supplied to the in-cylinder injector and decreasing the degree of opening of the throttle valve and/or decreasing the lift amount of the intake valve.

An engine ECU executes a program including the steps of: selecting a map for a warm state or a map for a cold state based on an engine coolant temperature after an engine is started and rapid catalyst warm-up ends; calculating DI ratio r; calculating when to inject fuel from an intake manifold injector as time in synchronization with air intake if a load factor is equal to or greater than a threshold value and fuel is injected from injectors at a ratio predetermined therebetween; and otherwise calculating when to inject fuel from the intake manifold injector as during a period in which an intake valve is closed.

Control device of internal combustion engine

A baffle plate is arranged between a crankshaft axially supported in a freely rotating manner by a cylinder block and a bearing cap and an oil pan storing lubricating oil supplied to each part of a vehicle engine. The baffle plate is fastened to the bearing cap using parent bolts for fastening the bearing cap and the cylinder block through screwing from the bottom surface of the bearing cap.

Disclosed is an exhaust gas recirculation apparatus for an internal combustion engine, which has a vacuum operated flow control valve arranged on pipe means connecting the exhaust manifold of the engine with the intake manifold of the engine. When the throttle valve is opened from its idle position during the operation of the engine, the flow control valve is opened in order to recirculate exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold. The apparatus further has means for opening the flow control valve when so-called 'dieseling' takes place after the operation of the engine is stopped. The exhaust gas due to the dieseling can be recirculated and, thus, the dieseling is instantly stopped.

Exhaust gas recirculation apparatus

A carburetor with an auxiliary accelerator-pump system including a diaphragm pump. The diaphragm pump includes a fuel chamber and a vacuum chamber which are separated by a spring-loaded diaphragm. The fuel chamber leads by way of a check valve to a fuel reservoir or float bowl in a carburetor and by way of another check valve to a pump jet or nozzle which is open into an intake passage in a carburetor, while the vacuum chamber leads to a vacuum take-off port open in the intake passage downstream of a throttle valve. The fuel chamber is further communicated by way of a temperature responsive valve means with the fuel reservoir, and this valve means is adapted to open, when an ambient temperature exceeds a given temperature level.

Carburetor with auxiliary accelerator-pump system

A carburetor with an auxiliary accelerator-pump system including a diaphragm pump. This diaphragm pump includes a fuel chamber and a vacuum chamber which are separated by a spring-loaded diaphragm. The fuel chamber leads by way of a check valve to a fuel reservoir or float bowl in the carburetor and by way of another check valve to a pump jet or nozzle which is open into the intake passage of the carburetor, while the vacuum chamber leads to a vacuum take-off port open into the intake passage downstream of its throttle valve. This fuel chamber is communicated by way of a valve with the fuel reservoir or float bowl, the aforesaid valve being actuated in response to a vacuum prevailing in the intake passage downstream of the throttle valve.
