A herbicidal composition which comprises at least one of triazine compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group or an amino group, R.sup.2 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy group, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylthio group or a di(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylamino group and R.sup.3 is a cyclo(C.sub.3 -C.sub.7) alkyl group, a tertiary C.sub.4 -C.sub.5 alkyl group, an adamantyl group or a group of the formula: ##STR2## (in which R is a halogen atom, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy group, a nitro group or a trihalomethyl group and n is an integer of 0 to 2) in a herbicidally effective amount and an inert carrier or diluent.

5-Oxo-2,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazines

A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl group, X is a C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkylene group or a C.sub.3 alkenylene group, Y is a hydrogen atom or a chlorine atom, A is a methyl group or a methoxy group and the substituted ureido group is present at the m- or p-position to the group of the formula: ##STR2## which is useful as a herbicide.

A herbicidal composition which comprises as an active ingredient a herbicidally effective amount of a triazinone compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein A is --NH--N.dbd.CHCH.sub.2 NH--, --NH--NHCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 NH-- or --NH--N.dbd.CHC(NHOH).dbd.N--, and an inert carrier.

Herbicidal composition comprising triazinone compound

A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein A is a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or a methoxy group, X is a straight or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylene chain, Y is an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom, R, which may be the same or different, is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group, a trifluoromethyl group, a chlorine atom, a bromine atom or a fluorine atom, m is an integer of 0 to 5 and n is an integer of 0 or 1, provided that in case of R being a fluorine atom, m is an integer of 0 to 5 and in case of R being other than a fluorine atom, m is an integer of 0 to 3, which shows a pronounced herbicidal activity against a wide variety of weeds in the cultivation of crop plants without any material toxicity to mammals and any chemical injury to said crop plants.

Urea derivatives, and their production and use

Use of 3,5-dioxo-1,2,4-triazine derivatives of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X, Y, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each as defined in the specification, as a herbicidal agent exerting a strong controlling and preventing effect against wild oats without any material phytotoxicity to wheat.
