According to an embodiment, there is provided a battery system. The battery system includes a first battery and a second battery connected in parallel with the first battery. The first battery includes a lead storage battery. The second battery includes a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The negative electrode includes a negative-electrode-mixture layer, and the negative-electrode-mixture layer contains lithium titanate. The positive electrode contains a positive electrode active material LiMnM(a)O. A ratio of a battery capacity of the second battery to a battery capacity of the first battery is in a range of 1/133 to 1/2.

According to one embodiment, there is provided a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. The negative electrode of the battery includes a negative electrode active material which can absorb and release lithium ions at a negative electrode potential of 0.4 V (V.S. Li/Li) or more. Nonaqueous electrolyte battery, battery pack and vehicle

According to one embodiment, there is provided a battery including a case, a lid, an electrode group, an intermediate lead, and a terminal lead. The electrode group has an end face opposed to the lid and includes current collector tabs extending from the end face. The intermediate lead contains an electrode group joint and a lead joint. The terminal lead is electrically connected to the lid and the lead joint of the intermediate lead. Each of the current collector tabs has a tip portion whose width in the direction perpendicular to the extending direction is narrow. The tip portion thereof is electrically connected to the electrode group joint.

In general, according to one embodiment, there is provided a battery. This battery includes a container, a lid, a gas-relief vent, an electrode group, an intermediate lead, and a terminal lead. The gas-relief vent is provided in the lid. The intermediate lead includes a first lead-joint part, an electrode-group-joint part, and a leg part. The leg part connects the first lead-joint part and the electrode-group-joint part to each other. The first lead-joint part and the electrode-group-joint part are located on planes different from each other.

The positive electrode contains a lithium-transition metal oxide having a layered crystal structure. The negative electrode contains a lithium-titanium composite oxide having a spinel structure. And the positive electrodes and the negative electrodes satisfy the formula (1) given below:1.02&#x2266;X&#x2266;2&#x2003;&#x2003;(1) where X is a ratio of an available electric capacity of each of the negative electrodes at 25&#xb0; C. to an available electric capacity of each of the positive electrodes at 25&#xb0; C.

Disclosed is an aluminum negative electrode battery comprising a closed space provided by at least one member including a hydrogen gas permeating member that contains an organic material having a He gas permeability of 2&#xd7;10(cm(STP)cm/sec&#xb7;cm&#xb7;cmHg) or more at 30&#xb0; C., and a power generating element including an electrolyte, a positive electrode and a negative electrode containing at least one of aluminum and aluminum alloy, and the power generating element provided in the closed space.

Aluminum negative electrode battery

The present invention achieves an increased capacity and prolonged life of nonaqueous electrolyte batteries of the type in which light metals, such as magnesium, calcium or aluminum, are used in the negative electrode. The present invention also provides a thermally stable nonaqueous electrolytic solution for use with such batteries. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery in accordance with the present invention includes a positive electrode; a negative electrode containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of aluminum, calcium and magnesium; and a nonaqueous electrolytic solution composed of a mixed solvent of an organic solvent and an alkyl sulfone having a structure represented by RRSO, where Rand Rare each independently an alkyl group, and at least one type of salt selected from the group consisting of aluminum salt, calcium salt and magnesium salt. The organic solvent is capable of dissolving the alkyl sulfone along with at least one type of salt selected from the group consisting of aluminum salt, calcium salt and magnesium salt.

Nonaqueous electrolyte battery and nonaqueous electrolytic solution

An electric cell using aluminum in a negative electrode has a positive electrode, the negative electrode containing aluminum or aluminum alloy, and an electrolyte arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The electrolyte includes: at least one ion selected from a group of a sulfate ion (SO ) and a nitrate ion (NO ); and an additive. The additive is selected from an organic acid, a salt of the organic acid, an hydrate of the organic acid, an ester of the organic acid, an ion of the organic acid, and derivatives thereof. Thus, the electric cell of the present invention using aluminum in a negative electrode allows the improvements in the voltage and the capacity of the cell as the generation of gas depending on the self-discharge can be prevented.

Disclosed is a battery pack, comprising a secondary battery unit including at least one secondary battery, the at least one secondary battery comprising an electrode group and an insulating case having the electrode group housed therein, and the battery pack further comprising a heat conductive sheet which is provided at at least a part of the surface of the secondary battery unit and has a heat conductivity higher than a heat conductivity of the case.
