In an electric drive device, a motor housing includes an end face part opposite to an output part of a rotating shaft of a motor. An electronic control part is arranged at the end face part of the motor housing, and includes a control circuit part, a power supply circuit part, and a power conversion circuit part. The power conversion circuit part is mounted to a power conversion part heat dissipation region of the end face part of the motor housing. The power supply circuit part is mounted to a power supply part heat dissipation region of the end face part of the motor housing. A power conversion circuit part holder is attached to a portion of the end face part around the rotating shaft, and includes a resilient function member structured to press and hold the power conversion circuit part on the power conversion part heat dissipation region.

Provided is an electric drive device in which heat-dissipating sections (A) (B) that transfer at least heat generated by a power supply circuit unit () and power conversion circuit units () to a motor housing () are formed on an end surface section () of the motor housing () on the opposite side from an output section of a rotating shaft () of an electric motor. The power conversion section includes a first power conversion section and a second power conversion section. The cover includes a protrusion that protrudes toward the motor from a surface substantially parallel to the radial direction of the motor. The protrusion is formed in such a manner as to separate the first and second power conversion sections from each other.

A motor drive apparatus includes a motor; and an ECU. The ECU includes an ECU housing. The ECU housing includes a heat sink having a module receiving portion. The module receiving portion includes a heat-receiving surface and an opening portion open to one-end side of the ECU housing. The ECU further includes a control substrate received by the ECU housing to be perpendicular to the heat-receiving surface and to face the motor; a plurality of semiconductor modules each received in the module receiving portion and connected electrically with the control substrate to control a power supply of the motor. Each of the plurality of semiconductor modules includes a heat-radiating surface at an outer portion thereof. The ECU further includes a module retaining section pressing the heat-radiating surface to the heat-receiving surface to retain each of the plurality of semiconductor modules in the module receiving portion.

A motor drive apparatus includes an assembly of first and second subassemblies. The first subassembly includes a first board and at least one connecting member, such as a bus bar, formed in the first board, and arranged to form a current supply path from a power source to the motor. The second subassembly includes a second board and at least one switching device mounted on the second board. The first and second subassemblies are stacked with an interspace between the first and second boards. A terminal segment of the switching device is connected with a terminal segment of the connecting member.
