A starting apparatus for internal combustion engines, having a drive pinion for engagement into a ring gear of the internal combustion engine, an electrical rotary actuator and an electrical linear actuator, the rotary actuator to rotate the drive pinion and the linear actuator to slide a pinion, and the electrical linear actuator having a linear-stroke magnet that has a sliding armature is moved by a retraction winding, within the retraction winding, along a sliding armature axis, having a holding winding by which the sliding armature can be held in a retracted state. The linear actuator also actuates a switching apparatus to activate the electrical rotary actuator into a second actuation stage. A second retraction winding is connected in parallel with the first retraction winding, such that the first retraction winding can be shut off by a normally closed switch while a current path through a second retraction winding is closed.

Starter device for internal combustion engines and method for operating same

A circuit configuration is described, for starting an internal combustion engine, using at least one starter, which includes a starter motor, an engaging relay, a switching relay and a control relay, the control relay being able to be controlled by an ignition switch, the engaging relay being able to be controlled by the control relay and a current path of the starter motor being able to be switched using the switching relay. In order for the starter, for starting an internal combustion engine, to operate more accurately, and thus to achieve a longer service life, the switching relay is able to be controlled as a function of the occurrence of a specified event, at least in the switching-off process. This has the advantage that the switching relay is able to interrupt a current path from the starter motor earlier in time, especially a main current path, so that energizing in the reverse direction is avoided. Consequently, the switching relay is able to release the current path of the starter motor specified in such a way that in the switching-off process, during the disengaging of a starter pinion, pinion bounce is clearly reduced, or even eliminated. In the switching-off process of the starter, a motion of the starter pinion back in the direction towards the ring gear, after the disengagement, is avoided.

Circuit configuration for starting an internal combustion engine and method of a starter control

The invention relates to a starter () for an internal combustion engine, comprising a starter motor (), which can be connected to a direct voltage network () by means of a switching device (). In order to improve the process of meshing a starter pinion () into a ring gear () of an internal combustion engine, it is proposed that the excitation winding () of the starter motor () be divided into several partial windings (a-f), which can optionally be connected to the direct voltage network () by the switching device () in a staggered manner.

The invention relates to a switching relay (), particularly for a starting device for starting an internal combustion engine, having a contact device (), a relay coil (), an armature (), and an actuating rod (), wherein the actuating rod () is displaced by the armature () when current is applied to the relay coil () and the contact device () is actuated by the actuating rod (), and having a contact ripping device by means of which the armature () and the actuating rod () are coupled to each other. In order to simplify assembly and disassembly, the contact ripping device is implemented having a latching device in the armature ().

The invention relates to a starter () for an internal combustion engine, comprising a starter motor () which can be coupled to the internal combustion engine by means of a pinion (), and a device for engaging the pinion () in a gear rim () of the internal combustion engine and connecting the starter motor () to a DC voltage supply system (). In order to disconnect the sequence of operations, the device has separate means, in particular separate relays (), for engaging the pinion () on one hand and turning on the starter motor on the other when the internal combustion engine is started, thus preventing reactions of the engagement dynamics on the contact system when the motor current is switched.

A parallel starter system for starting an internal combustion engine has at least two parallel-connected starters and a thermal switch associated with each of the starters, which thermal switch interrupts operation of the respective starter in the event of a response. The thermal switches are connected in series so that in the event of tripping of one of these thermal switches, the operation of all starters is interrupted.

A coil configuration having a tube-shaped coil brace of an electromagnetic drive is provided, particularly a two-stage starter solenoid switch, the coil configuration having a holding winding and a pull-in winding. The coil brace has at its one end a first delimitation and at its other end a second delimitation, between which the holding winding is situated. The first delimitation has on its side, facing away from its second delimitation, an axial recess for accommodating the pull-in winding.

A starter system for starting internal combustion engines including a plurality of starters connected in parallel, each having a starter motor and an engaging relay. This parallel starting system may be implemented simply and cost-effectively if at least one of the starters includes a power relay which switches the primary current path to the associated starter motor, and the engaging relay, the power relay, and the starter motor are implemented as a structural unit.
