A measurement system () determines gas concentrations in a gas mixture of a gas sample by utilizing thermal conductivities and paramagnetic effects of thermal conductivities in the gas mixture involving data sets (). A circuit arrangement provides measured values with an AC signal component and with a DC signal component to a calculation and control unit (). An oxygen concentration in the gas mixture of the gas sample is determined based on the standardized AC signal components and a concentration of another gas in the gas mixture of the gas sample is determined based on the standardized DC voltage signal components. Output signals are generated by the calculation and control unit, which indicate the determined oxygen concentration and the determined concentration of another gas in the gas mixture of the gas sample.

Measuring system for determining gas concentrations

An anesthetic dispensing device () includes a measuring unit () for determining an anesthetic concentration in an area of an outlet () of the anesthetic dispensing device. The measuring unit is configured to measure a first parameter () of a gas concentration-dependent characteristic between a mixer unit () and a second parameter () of the gas concentration-dependent characteristic in a second gas branch () or in an area of a breathing gas feed () of the anesthetic dispensing device by at least one sensor element (). The measuring unit is further configured to determine the anesthetic concentration between the mixer unit and the outlet and to output a corresponding concentration signal () as a function of calibration information assigned to the second parameter and of the first parameter.

Anesthetic dispensing device with a measuring unit

An anesthesia system for providing a breathing gas enriched with anesthetic has an anesthesia apparatus () and at least one anesthetic dispensing device (), which is detachably coupled with the anesthesia apparatus. A fluid connection () is provided between the anesthesia apparatus and the dispensing device, which is designed to send anesthetic from the dispensing device into the anesthesia apparatus. At least one optical interface is provided between the anesthesia apparatus and the dispensing device. At least one display device is provided in the dispensing device. The optical interface has at least one light source (), which is provided in the anesthesia apparatus, and at least one fiber optic light guide (), which is provided in the anesthetic dispensing device (). The light fed by the light source () into the fiber optic light guide is sent to the display device to directly or indirectly light the display device.

Anesthesia system with detachable anesthetic dispensing device

A method is provided for improving the illumination of an illuminated area (), especially an operating area, of an illuminating device () with at least two light modules (). The method includes the emission of an illuminant characteristic of the light module () with a preset amplitude from each light module (). The reflected amplitudes of all characteristic light types are detected. The detected amplitudes for each light module () are compared. The light intensity of at least one light module () is varied on the basis of the comparison of the detected amplitudes for each light module ().

Method for improving the illumination of an illuminated area

A measurement head is provided for a device for measuring the concentration of at least one gas, in particular oxygen. A gas sample a measurement element () is arranged in the region of an opening on a circuit board (). To convey gas a duct () is formed in each of two metal bodies, which surround the measurement element () and serve as magnetic poles. During operation of the measurement head the gas sample flows substantially perpendicularly, first through one of the metal bodies (), and then through the opening () on a side of the measurement element () facing the opening and emerges again through the other metal body ().

Measuring head for a device for measuring the concentration of at least one gas in a gas sample

An anesthesia system () is provided with an anesthesia apparatus (), at least one anesthetic dispenser () and at least one parameter detection device () for detecting at least one parameter of the at least one anesthetic dispenser () at the anesthesia apparatus (). The parameter detection device () is provided with an apparatus interface unit () with at least one camera () at the anesthesia apparatus () and with a dispenser interface unit () with at least one image pattern () at the at least one anesthetic dispenser (). The at least one image pattern () can be detected by the camera (), and the dispenser interface unit () is a passive dispenser interface unit ().

Anesthesia system

A device for measuring the concentrations of paramagnetic gases in a gas sample has at least one modulatable magnetic flux source, which has an air gap, to which a gas sample can be fed. A controllable power source, for generating current and voltage signals, is coupled with the modulatable magnetic flux source in order to generate a modulatable magnetic flux within the air gap. Two measuring points are arranged at least partly within the air gap. Each measuring point has an electrically controllable heating device and a heat conduction-measuring unit or resistive measuring device. Each measuring point is coupled with a variable power source to heat the heating device to a working temperature. Each measuring point is coupled with a measuring circuit to measure heat conduction measured signals generated by the heat conduction-measuring unit, from which the concentrations of paramagnetic gases, which are contained in the gas sample, can be derived.

Device for measuring the concentration of paramagnetic gases

A gas concentration-measuring device makes it possible to measure gas components in a gas sample. An interferometer, based on a dual-band Fabry-Perot interferometer (), is provided with a transmission spectrum that can be set by a control voltage (). The control voltage () of the dual-band Fabry-Perot interferometer () is synchronized over the course of time with the activation and deactivation of the radiation sources ().

Gas concentration-measuring device

A device is provided for measuring the velocity of flow of a fluid in a respiration system and includes a first thermal sensor element () provided with a controllable heating element () and a second thermal sensor element (). The thermal sensor elements () are arranged at spaced locations from one another at a path of flow, so that a thermal signal generated by the first sensor element () with the heating element () is transmitted to the second sensor element (), and the second sensor element () is designed to detect the thermal signal from the fluid flow. The second sensor element () is connected to the first sensor element () via feedback () which triggers another thermal signal. A controlling and analyzing device () is connected to the sensor elements () to start the generation of a first thermal signal and to read and analyze the signal frequency as an indicator of the velocity of flow.

Device and process for measuring the velocity of flow of a fluid using pulse signal generated based on feedback

A double temperature sensor is provided for measuring a near-surface temperature of the ambient air and the temperature of the skin surface (). A heat flux insulation block () is made of an insulation material in one piece as a housing. Two temperature sensor elements () with respective electric connections () belonging to them are arranged in the heat flux insulation block () one on top of another at spaced locations from one another and near the surface.

Double temperature sensor

A device for guiding a person along a traveled path enables the wearer of the device to be guided back along the traveled path in an electronically supported manner even under conditions under which orientation is difficult. The device has a portable ejection means (), in which a container () for accommodating a plurality of transponders () and an ejection mechanism (), which is actuated by a control device () to eject a transponder () from the container (), are present. A control unit () is prepared such as to actuate the ejection mechanism () at predetermined time intervals or at predetermined distances in space. A portable transmitter/receiver device () is designed to detect at least one of the transponders () dropped off and to generate a signal representative of the direction in which that transponder () is located. A portable display device () receives the direction signal of the transmitter/receiver means () and offers the wearer a visual and/or acoustic display of the direction.

Device and process for guiding a person along a path traveled

A measuring head for the determination of the concentration of a paramagnetic gas in a gas sample has first and second housing parts () made of a steel alloy for accommodating a magnet coil body () each. The magnet coil bodies extend concentrically around the central axis of each housing part (). Metallic bars (), which are used as magnet poles for the measuring head, are located at spaced locations with a defined air gap in the assembled state of the measuring head. The bars are arranged in the center of the measuring head in the area of the central axis of the housing parts (). A sample gas cuvette support () is provided in the air gap between the housing parts () for positioning a sample gas cuvette holder (). The sample gas cuvette support () is provided with a gas inlet and gas outlet ().

Measuring head for a device for measuring the concentration of a paramagnetic gas

A highly compact measuring gas cell for a device for measuring the concentration of a paramagnetic gas on the basis of the change in the thermal conductivity of the paramagnetic gas, which is brought about by a change in the magnetic field. The measuring gas cell has a bottom plate () that carries a measuring element () for the detection of the thermal conductivity of the measured gas, electric leads, an electric measuring gas cell heater () and a temperature-dependent electric sensor element () for the detection of the temperature of the measuring gas cell. A channel plate () is cut out for the gas guide in the area of the measuring element () and around the measuring element (). A cover plate (), seals the measuring gas cell in the upward direction and has at least two holes for the inlet and outlet of the gas into and out of the gas guide of the channel plate ().

Measuring gas cell for a device for measuring the concentration of a paramagnetic gas

A device for measuring the flow of a fluid located in a fluid channel heats the fluid channel without additional components. A metallic tube ( ) with predetermined thermoelectric potential is provided as a fluid channel. An a.c. power source ( ) is connected to a partial section ( ) of the tube ( ) in such a manner that the partial section ( ) is heated as a resistor element to an increased working temperature compared with the temperature of the fluid. At least one thermocouple ( ) is provided with junction points formed along the partial section ( ) in such a manner that at least two wires ( ) with another thermoelectric potential are connected to the tube ( ) in the area of the partial section ( ). A measuring circuit ( ) evaluates the thermocouple voltage of the thermocouple ( ) and has a circuit ( ) which eliminates the a.c. voltage component superimposed to the thermocouple voltage as a consequence of the a.c. heating. The thermocouple voltage yields the measured variable corresponding to the flow.

Thermal flowmeter

The object is to improve an apparatus for measuring the concentration of a paramagnetic gas in a gas sample, in such a way a measurement signal with a low noise ratio is obtained. The apparatus proposed according to the invention is characterized by a modulatable magnetic field source with an air gap as a measuring chamber for receiving the gas sample; a modulation source 26 for outputting a modulation signal to the magnetic field source ; a measuring element 8, disposed inside the air gap and heated to an operating temperature, for outputting a heat flow measurement signal; a filter device , for filtering periodic fluctuations out, caused by the modulation of the magnetic field source, from the heat flow measurement signal caused by the modulation of the magnetic field source, the amplitude of the periodic fluctuations, being a measure for the proportion of the gas in the gas sample.
