A cooling plate for shaft furnaces, in particular, for blast furnaces, provided with a refractory lining, comprising cooling channels loadable with a cooling medium, wherein at least the front side facing the interior of the furnace is comprised of an ingot, produced preferably of copper or a low-alloy copper alloy and provided with grooves for receiving refractory material, is to be further developed such that it can be produced with a minimal material expenditure and a minimal manufacturing expenditure and can be easily mounted, and that with it a higher cooling capacity with reduced cooling medium throughput can be realized, wherein the own heat uptake is limited such that a significantly longer service life can be obtained. For this purpose it is suggested that two through-shaped rolled sections with their domed areas facing outwardly, respectively, are welded together and that bores for receiving the ends of pipe connector pieces are introduced into the backside supplemental section and the ends welded thereto, and that the free ends of the rolled sections are closed off by caps.

Bell and hopper for shaft furnaces

The invention relates to a pig casting machine comprising at least one endless conveyor belt ( ), on which pig casting molds ( ) are fixed, for conveying pig casting molds from a casting station ( ) to a pig removal station and vice versa, wherein each pig casting mold is filled with molten metal as it passes through the casting station with the mold cavity facing upwards, in addition to a device for cooling the pig casting molds before, during and/or after casting, wherein the pig casting molds are embodied having a thin wall. According to the invention, in order to increase output and to be able to cast heavy metals in such a pig casting machine, the pig casting molds ( ) are designed to receive molten metal at a melting temperature above 1,000&deg; C.

A method and a plant for reducing iron ore to pig iron in a blast furnace with the use of carbon, wherein a partial quantity of the carbon is admixed to the iron ore in the form of coke which ensures that the bulk material column is loosened and supported and that the gas can penetrate through the bulk material column in the blast furnace, and wherein the remaining partial carbon quantity is injected as a substitute reducing agent into the blast furnace. Prior to being injected into the blast furnace, the entire partial carbon quantity forming the substitute reducing agent is converted into a low-nitrogen reducing gas by gasification in a gasification reactor arranged spatially separate from the blast furnace.

Method for reducing iron ore in a blast furnace

A cooling plate for shaft furnaces, particularly blast furnaces, is provided with a refractory lining and is composed of copper or a low-alloy copper alloy with cooling medium ducts, wherein the cooling plate is made from a wrought or rolled ingot, and wherein the cooling plate has on one side thereof, i.e., the front side, grooves for receiving refractory material. Cooling ducts are provided on the rear side of the cooling plate, wherein the cooling ducts are defined in part by the cooling plate itself and in part by sheet metal or sheet steel, wherein the cooling ducts are produced by milling cutting in the rear sides of the cooling plate and/or the sheet metal or sheet steel.

Cooling plates for shaft furnaces, particularly blast furnaces, provided with refractory linings, are made of copper or a low-alloy copper alloy and are provided with cooling agent ducts in their interiors. Each cooling plate is manufactured from a rough forged or rolled ingot, wherein the cooling plate has a straight or planar inner side and the cooling ducts are blind-end bores extending in the interior of the cooling plate, wherein the cooling plate is provided at the edge thereof with side flanges, and wherein pipe connections are provided at the ends of the cooling ducts. The cooling body of the forged or rolled copper cooling plate provided with inner blind-end bores and vertical and/or horizontal side flanges on both sides has an arched outer side as well as a planar inner side.

Cooling plates for shaft furnaces

A top closing device for shaft furnaces, particularly blast furnaces, including an inlet hopper with inlet pipe, a rotating, vertically non-adjustable chute carrier with rotary drive, a pivotable chute in the furnace interior with external drive means, and sealing members between the rotating and stationary components. The rotating chute carrier is mounted with a gear ring attached to a flange in a ball bearing slewing rim arranged on a catch basket. The rotary movement of the rotating chute carrier is effected outside of the furnace space by an electric motor drive with pinion. The catch basket is arranged on the furnace support ring of the gas seal hood. The pivoting or tilting movement of the chute relative to the furnace axis within the rotating chute carrier is effected by a hydraulic or electromechanical drive outside of the furnace space. An annular sealing member for sealing relative to the rotating chute carrier is mounted on the furnace support ring next to the flange of the catch basket. An annular sealing member for sealing relative to the stationary inlet pipe is mounted on the inner flange of the chute carrier.

Top closing device for shaft furnaces

Plate coolers including a plate cooler made of copper or a low-alloy copper alloy for shaft furnaces, especially blast furnaces, with blind holes arranged in the cooling body for passing through cooling water, as well as with vertical side flanges arranged around the cooling body and with horizontal side flanges. The plate cooler can be connected to another plate cooler to form a plate cooler segment or plate cooler ring. Webs and grooves located between them are arranged in the plate cooler in the area of the cooling body on a side facing the interior of the furnace for holding refractory material.

Plate coolers for shaft furnaces

The present invention concerns a slab (1) for cooling a blast furnace and made of a mass of copper or high-copper alloy forged or rolled into a blank. The edges of the slab accommodate narrower vertical and horizontal part-way bores (13 & 14) disposed around vertical part-way bores (3). Coolant is supplied to and removed from the narrower bores through sections (5 & 5') of pipe and to and from the other bores though connections (2 & 2'). The slab can be additionally secured to the furnace's armor by way of a cutout (12) in the surface facing away from the interior of the furnace and engaged by a bolt mounted on the armor. The slab is secured to the furnace by fasteners that engage threaded bores (9) in the slab.
