A camera holder () is provided for fixing a camera () or a camcorder to an optical observation device. The holder () has a variable-length sleeve () with a first end configured to receive the camera objective and a second end configured to secure the sleeve () relative to the optical observation device. The holder () also has an adjusting device () fixed to the sleeve (). The adjusting device () has a pin for connection with a stand mating thread of a camera () and is configured to compensate for an offset between the stand mating thread and the camera objective. The adjusting device () enables the camera () to be positioned with respect to the sleeve and the optical observation device.

A viewing arrangement includes an objective (5) having a variable intersection distance and an intersection-distance dependent oblique illumination (7) which is separate from the objective (5). The oblique illumination (7) includes two illuminating beam paths (9, 11) for completely illuminating contoured objects without shadows. The illuminating beam paths (9, 11) are inclined toward each other ahead of the object (13, 16) to be viewed. The mutual inclination of the two illuminating beam paths (9, 11) is dependent upon the particular intersection distance of the objective (5).

A motorized stand for positioning medical therapeutic or diagnostic instruments is mechanically coarsely balanced by weights. A defined positioning of the medical instrument is determined by means of several drive units with integrated angle transducers. Operating safety is additionally ensured, in the event of failure of a drive unit, by the use of two angle transducers per drive unit. One angle transducer is coupled to the drive motor of each drive unit. The other angle transducer is independent of the drive motor.

A manipulator is provided for a surgical microscope in order to deflect a laser beam on the viewed operating area, the movement of a handle being transmitted via a lever mechanism to the movement of a mirror which reflects the laser beam to a point and via a path within the viewed operating area. The sensitivity of transmitted motion can be adapted to the selected magnification of the surgical microscope by changing the length of a transmission lever in order to change its point of motion pick-off from the handle.
