Method and device for operating a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine

A method for controlling a drivetrain of a motor vehicle. The vehicle comprises a drive engine and a dual-clutch transmission. The dual-clutch transmission comprises a first friction clutch and a second friction clutch together with a first transmission unit and a second transmission unit, in order to establish a first power transmission branch and a second power transmission branch. The dual-clutch transmission comprising a clutch actuator device for actuating the friction clutches and a gearshift actuator device for engaging and disengaging gears of the dual-clutch transmission. The method assuming that the motor vehicle is being driven in a high original gear and comprising the following steps: derivation of a first shift signal from an actuation of a control element by the driver; calculation of a target gear, which is lower than the original gear and which corresponds to the first shift signal; selection of an intermediate gear between the original gear and the target gear, opening of the friction clutch corresponding to the original gear and closing of the friction clutch corresponding to the intermediate gear, in order to transmit drive power via the power transmission branch corresponding to the intermediate gear; and engagement of the target gear, opening of the friction clutch corresponding to the intermediate gear and closing of the friction clutch corresponding to the target gear in the event that a second shift signal is derived from an actuation of a control element by the driver.

Control method for a dual-clutch transmission

Conical disk pairs of a belt-driven conical-pulley transmission include an axially fixed disk and an axially movable disk that are situated on respective shafts on the input side and the output side and are connectable by an endless torque-transmitting component for transmitting torque. At least one of the shafts has at least one axial bore from which at least one connecting bore extends to the surface of the shaft. The outlet of the connecting bore is in a region that is covered by the movable disk independent of the latter's axial position. An annular chamber formed between the shaft outer surface and a radially inner surface of the axially movable disk can be subjected to hydraulic pressure through the connecting bore. A discharge groove is provided for bleeding air bubbles from the annular chamber.

Belt-driven conical-pulley transmission and motor vehicle with such a transmission

An input-side drive arrangement for a belt-driven conical-pulley transmission includes an input shaft that is rigidly connected to an axially fixed disk, and an axially movable disk that can be shifted axially on the shaft and is rotationally fixed to the shaft. A torque-sensing device has a first shaped surface that is rigidly connected to the shaft and a second shaped surface that is rigidly connected to a sensing piston that surrounds the shaft and is rotatable and axially movable relative to the shaft. The sensing piston engages a rotationally drivable input wheel and can be subjected to hydraulic pressure from the side facing the movable disk. The rotationally fixed and axially movable engagement between the sensing piston and the input wheel is such that the engagement is disconnected when there is torque acting from the movable disk and the sensing piston is not under hydraulic pressure.

Belt-driven conical-pulley transmission with improved towing suitability

A decoupling device for the bearing arrangement of a shaft carried in a housing, in particular a shaft of a belt-driven conical-pulley transmission with a chain that functions as the belt. The decoupling device includes an outer bearing ring configured with a circularly cylindrical outer surface and within which the shaft is mounted, and an inner surface of a housing that encloses the bearing ring outer surface. At least one radial ondular washer is arranged between the bearing ring outer surface and the housing inner surface, which allows a limited relative radial movement between the housing inner surface and the bearing ring outer surface by elastic deformation of the washer.

Decoupling device for mounting a shaft on a base and radial ondular washer

A belt-driven conical-pulley transmission having a shaft on the input end and a shaft on the power output end. One of the shafts includes at least one axial bore extending in the longitudinal direction of the shaft, and a transverse bore extending from the axial bore to an outlet on the surface of the shaft. A conical disk pair is carried on the shaft and includes an axially fixed disk and an axially movable disk. The axially movable disk includes internal teeth that engage with external teeth on the shaft, and it overlies the transverse bore outlet over its entire axial travel distance. The transverse bore outlet is positioned in the region of the interengaging teeth.

Continuously variable transmission

A power-split transmission having several ranges of transmission ratios with continuously variable speed reductions. A drive shaft is connected to two shafts of a variable speed drive unit via a distributor gear whose shafts are in turn connected with the input shafts of a parallel gearbox via respective clutches. Two ranges of ratios only differ from each other through the reduction of the input shaft of the parallel gearbox and their output shafts. An additional embodiment includes a variable speed drive unit, a first planetary drive that is connected with a drive shaft, an input shaft of the variable speed drive unit and a connecting shaft, as well as a second planetary drive that is connected with the connecting shaft of the output shaft of the variable speed drive unit, and an output shaft and an electric motor that is nonrotatably connected with the connecting shaft.

Transmission with continuously variable transmission ratio

A conical disk pair for a belt-driven conical-pulley transmission includes a fixed disk, and a movable disk that is axially movable and rotationally fixed to an input shaft. A torque sensor is associated with the movable disk on a side opposite from the axially fixed disk and includes a sensing piston having axially-directed arms that are circumferentially spaced on a side of the sensing piston that faces away from the movable disk. The arms have outer axially&#x2014;extending teeth that mesh with inner axial teeth of an input wheel. An inner support ring contacts the arms on an inner side radially opposite the outer teeth of the arms and forces the outer teeth of the arms into meshing engagement with circumferentially-positioned axial teeth of the input wheel.

Conical disk pair for a belt-driven conical-pulley transmission

A branched power transmission having several transmission ratio ranges with a steplessly adjustable transmission ratio. A drive shaft is connected to both shafts of a variable speed unit through a distributor transmission, which shafts in turn are connected with the input shafts of a parallel gearbox through respective clutches. Two transmission ratio ranges differ from each other through the transmission ratio of an input shaft of the parallel gearbox and its output shaft. Additionally, the power-producing transmission can include an electrical machine. A further embodiment includes a variable speed unit, a first planetary transmission connected with a drive shaft, the input shaft of the variable speed unit and a connecting shaft, and a second planetary transmission that is connected with the connecting shaft of the output shaft of the variable speed unit and an output shaft, and an electrical machine that is non-rotatably connected with the connecting shaft.

Transmission with a steplessly adjustable transmission ratio, with or without branched power and with or without an electrical machine

A transmission with a drive side and an output side conical disk pair. One conical disk pair includes a fixed disk carried by a shaft, a movable disk non-rotatably connected with and axially movable relative to the shaft, and a support ring axially attached to the shaft adjacent a back side of the movable disk. A pressure chamber between the support ring and the back side of the movable disk is supplied with hydraulic pressure medium through a passage in the shaft that opens to the surface of the shaft. An end region of the movable disk when moved along the shaft passes over the opening at a maximum spacing of the movable disk from the fixed disk, and a hydraulic medium connection exists between the passage and the pressure chamber through drainage slots between an inner surface of the movable disk and the peripheral surface of the shaft.

Belt-driven conical-pulley transmission

The rotary housing of a hydrokinetic torque converter, which can be utilized in the power train of a motor vehicle&mdash;for example, in conjunction with a continuously variable transmission&mdash;contains a torque monitoring device which is installed in such a way that it does not take up any, or any appreciable, additional space, especially in the axial direction of the housing. The torque monitoring device can serve to transmit torque between the lockup clutch and the output element of the torque converter. Additional features reside in the provision, configuration and manner of mounting of an auxiliary mass, and in the provision of a member for centering the piston of the lockup clutch in the housing as well as a member for centering the housing on the output element of a prime mover.

Hydrokinetic torque converter

A continuously variable transmission or an analogous torque transmitting system has two rotary members in the form of wheels, gears or pulleys (such as adjustable pulleys) which are rotatable about parallel axes. An endless flexible element in the form of a link chain, pintle chain or belt has arcuate portions trained over the rotary members and elongated reaches or stretches extending between the arcuate portions. At least one of the stretches is at least partially confined in but movable lengthwise relative to an elongated rail or another suitable guide which at least reduces lateral stray movements of the respective stretch. This reduces noise as well as the wear upon the endless flexible element and the rotary members.

A valve for regulating the rate of flow and/or the pressure of oil flowing to a transmission or another consumer in the power train of a motor vehicle has a piston which defines with the valve housing a chamber for one or more springs and for oil being admitted through a first inlet by way of a first conduit containing a first throttle. A second inlet admits pressurized oil from a pump, and such oil can be admitted into the consumer by way of a first outlet and a second conduit containing a second throttle and supplying oil to the first conduit. A second outlet can deliver oil from the second inlet to the sump in response to shifting of the piston. A hydraulic seal is established between the piston and the housing intermediate the chamber and the second outlet to prevent leakage of oil from the chamber into the second outlet. Oil leaking from the chamber could adversely influence the characteristics of oil flowing into the consumer.
