The switching network serves for the transmission of digital data signals within a broadband communication system. This switching network is thereby constructed of individual switching elements (KE) that form at least one multi-stage funnel due to a connection to one another. The section for the assemblies of the switching network is selected such that at least one complete funnel is accommodated on the respective assembly. The respective assembly thereby has its external data inputs provided with unidirectionally designed optical/electrical transducers (OML-E) and has its external data outputs provided with unidirectionally designed electrical/optical transducers (OML-S).

Switching network for a broadband communication system

The invention relates to an opto-electric module, comprising a printed circuit board (L) which as an electrical interface has a number of plug-in contacts (SK) running parallel in the area of a first face for directly plugging the module into an assembly. As an optical interface, said printed circuit board is also connected to an optical element (OE) in the area of a second face. The component side and the back of said printed circuit board are also covered at least partly by a housing part (GK, KK).

A connector link contains a distributor having demultiplexers and multiplexers for the division of a data signal having a high data rate or the division of up to n data signals having lower data rates onto n parallel data paths. As a result thereof, one data signal having a high data rate or a plurality of data signals having a lower data rate can be optionally transmitted. Generally, an auxiliary channel for the transmission of special information is also provided. A time-division multiplex signal that is redundantly coded is formed. A reception section contains corresponding, inverse devices for recovering the original data signals.

Connector apparatus for transmitting one or more data signals via light

In a digital switching center for a telephone switching system or the like, a clock signal distribution arrangement having a redundant central clock generator supplying clock signals to the switching matrices the arrangement including electro-optical transducers, brancher modules, light conductors and opto-electrical transducers connected in signal distribution paths between the clock generator and the switching matrices. The distribution paths are doubled for redundancy purposes.

The invention relates to a photo-laser transistor with a base-collector pn-junction biased in the non-conducting direction and a base-emitter pn-junction biased in the conducting direction. With the invention, the functions of optical to electronic conversion, amplification, electrical to optical conversion, and, in particular, that of an optical repeater are to be realized in one single semiconductor element. For this purpose, the invention provides that the base-emitter pn-junction is formed as laser diode, that the laser diode is driven with a base precurrent to approximately its threshold value, and the residual current, which needs to be made available for stepping over the threshold, stems from the amplified photocurrent of the base-emitter pn-junction. The photo-laser transistor according to the invention is applied, in particular, as optical repeater, optical amplifier, optical bus connection building block, optical sensor, wavelength converter, opto-electrical logic respectively opto-electrical switch.

A bidirectional light waveguide communication system that has a light source preferably formed by a laser at one end of the light waveguide and a reflex transmitter at the other end of the waveguide with the reflex transmitter formed by a halved controllable optical directional coupler which has two strip waveguides that are terminated by a partially reflecting mirror and which has control electrodes which receive a transmission signal. An opto-electrical transducer receives the received light signal from both strip waveguides after the partially reflecting mirror.
