A presettable gas valve is disclosed herein. The gas valve may have a maximum gas flow that can be adjusted to the particular requirements of the fireplace in which the gas valve is used. By way of example and not limitation, for real biomass/fuel burning fireplaces, the gas valve may be opened to its maximum level with a quarter turn of a handle. In contrast, for fake fireplaces, which require more gas flow compared to real fireplaces, the gas valve may be opened to its maximum level with a half turn of the handle. The maximum gas flow through the gas valve may be set during installation such that the user does not need to manually determine the appropriate amount of gas during use.

A valve insert for a cylinder valve for connecting an LPG tank to a gas consuming appliance has a body member mounted in the outlet end of the cylinder valve and a valve element slidable in the body member and cooperable therewith to control the flow of gas from the tank to the appliance. A quad sealing ring between the valve body and valve element seals against gas leakage therebetween and provides a lubricant reservoir for lubricating the surfaces thereof, and a wiper ring downstream of the quad sealing ring cleans the surfaces and precludes the ingress of foreign matter to the area of the gas sealing quad ring.

A valve insert is used to be mounted at least partially the outlet of a cylinder valve of a cylinder to allow a fluid to pass through the valve when a fluid connector is at least partially connected to the valve insert and/or the cylinder valve. The valve insert includes a body member adapted to be mount at least partially in the outlet of the cylinder valve; a valve member that moves in the body member, a docking member on the valve member adapted to contact at least a portion of the fluid connector and adapted to form a sealing relationship with the fluid connector; and a seal member that is movable by the valve member between an opened and a closed positioned.

Cylinder coupling device

A coupling for connecting a cylinder valve on an LPG tank to the inlet of a pressure regulator for gas consuming equipment comprises a nipple having an upstream end for connection with the cylinder valve and a downstream end for connection with the pressure regulator, and a plastic coupling nut for connecting the nipple to the cylinder valve. The end wall of the coupling nut has a metal heat transfer washer on the inner side thereof, and a pressure responsive flexible shutoff valve plate is provided in the nipple passageway. The shutoff valve plate closes the passageway in response to a pressure differential thereacross of no more than 15 psi, and the end wall of the coupling nut and the heat transfer washer are responsive to a temperature of between 240&deg; F. and 300&deg; F. to release the nipple for displacement away from the cylinder valve in the direction downstream of the nipple.

A diaphragm operated pressure regulating valve for connection between a source of gas under pressure and the point of use comprises an inlet port having an axis, a valve element coaxial with the inlet port and a coaxial ball and cam valve element actuating arrangement controlled by the diaphragm which is transverse to and coaxial with the inlet port.

A liquid level responsive shut-off valve for filling a tank, such as a toilet water tank, comprises a valve housing having an inlet passageway for connection to a source of liquid under pressure, an outlet passageway opening into the tank, and a diaphragm actuated valve element having open and closed positions respectively opening and closing the inlet passageway to the flow of liquid therethrough to said outlet passageway and the tank. A float and lever operated ball valve element controls operation of the diaphragm actuated valve element in accordance with the liquid level in the tank.

A liquid level responsive shut-off valve for filling a tank, such as a liquid propane tank, comprises a valve housing having an inlet passageway for connection to a source of liquid under pressure, an outlet passageway opening into the tank, and a diaphragm actuated valve element having open and closed positions respectively opening and closing. the inlet passageway to the flow of liquid therethrough to the outlet passageway and tank. A float operated valve element controls operation of the diaphragm actuated valve element and has a closed position when the tank is initially filled which precludes the flow of liquid into the tank thereafter, even when the tank becomes empty, until the liquid supply pressure is reduced to atmosphere.
