A fluid inflatable plug for interiorly cylindrical conduits includes a rigid cylindrical mandrel having an elastomeric tubular sleeve about the outer curved surface of the mandrel. The sleeve includes reinforcements which extend in opposite sense helical paths throughout the longitudinal extent of the sleeve. The sleeve is folded back over one of its ends to form a loop region upon assembly to the mandrel. The ends of the sleeve are sealingly retained to the outer surface of the mandrel. A passage are provided for admitting and exhausting pressurized fluid between the sleeve and the outer curved surface of the mandrel. The plug may include a fluid passage therethrough independent of the passage for admitting an exhausting pressurized fluid between the sleeve and the surface of the mandrel.

Inflatable plug for interiorly cylindrical conduits

A riveting gun is mounted on a carriage for movement on a way to a plurality of positions over belt fasteners placed along the edge of a clamped belt. The gun is guided into the desired positions by an indexing member which permits actuation of the gun for driving the rivets through the fasteners and belt when in position. A rivet deforming member on the other side of the belt upsets the rivets. Resilient mounting of the carriage is provided to maintain alignment and absorb impact reaction stresses.

Apparatus for attaching fasteners to belts

A hose built on a non-expanding, non-collapsing mandrel is removed readily lengthwise of and off the mandrel, facilitated by a tube of tough, flexible, thin anti-adherent film disposed in snug fitting contact with the length and girth of the mandrel. The tube is secured to the rigid metal member only close to the end thereof from which the hose is removed. Preferably, the tube is invaginated so as to provide inner and outer slidably juxtaposed walls. The hose built on such mandrel is moved lengthwise together with the outer wall of the tube which slides on the inner wall or the metal member. Lubrication, as by an air film, can facilitate the sliding, and does not contact the hose.
