Maize event HCEM485 is provided, in which plants comprising the event are tolerant to exposure to a glyphosate herbicide. Maize genomic polynucleotides flanking the insert DNA providing glyphosate tolerance are provided. The plant or part thereof having the event comprises a junction region of the insert DNA and maize plant genomic sequences. Methods and primers and probes to detect the presence of the event are provided, as well as kits which employ such primers and probes.

The present invention is related to transgenic plants having improved traits and to a method for producing such plants. The method involves the incorporation of large fragments of DNA from a donor species of plant into a recipient species of plant and selecting plants with improved traits.

An inbred corn line, designated 1445-008-1, is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of inbred corn line 1445-008-1, to the plants of inbred corn line 1445-008-1 and to methods for producing a corn plant, either inbred or hybrid, by crossing the inbred line 1445-008-1 with itself or another corn line. The invention further relates to methods for producing a corn plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic plants produced by that method and to methods for producing other inbred corn lines derived from the inbred 1445-008-1.

An efficient method of producing hybrid F soybean seeds is provided. A male sterile female parent line having a male sterile gene linked to a herbicide resistance gene is crossed with another male fertile soybean variety to produce hybrid soybean seeds.
