A breakaway coupling for use with a ground-installed road sign such as a stop sign typically located at the side of a road. The coupling interfaces between a conventional hollow ground stake and a hollow sign post. The coupling can be used with newly installed stop signs, as well as with currently installed stop signs, without modification to either the post of the ground stake. When the sign post is struck by an automobile, the coupling shears along a preformed score section generally aligned with the bottom of the post such that the post and sign break completely from the ground stake and are propelled away from the automobile.

Breakaway coupling for road-side signs

A fastener includes a threaded post and a nut formed with an internal threaded portion for threading onto the rod. A slot formed longitudinally in the post interrupts the threads and that is sized to slidably receive the threaded portion of the nut such that the nut slides freely along the length of the post. The nut is secured by sliding the nut onto the post until reaching a desired position, and then rotating the nut such that the threaded portion of the nut engages the threads formed on the post. The nut is secured into the desired position with an integrally formed locking tab that extends into the slot after the nut has been rotated onto the shank.

A self-locking strut-nut system for securement within a longitudinal constructional rectangular channel includes an element for selectable lockable engagement with the rectangular channel, such element defining a medial plane of the nut system. Such system also includes an element for threadably receipt of a complementally threaded rod, such receipt element having an axis transverse to such medial plane, the receipt element extending in length of the strut-nut system along such axis which exhibits upper and lower ends. The system also includes a rigid planar washer having an aperture. The system additionally includes an element for selectable engagement within the rigid washer, such engagement element extending integrally downwardly from a lowermost plane of the system, co-parallel to the medial plane of the system and transverse to the axis of the receipt element. Accordingly, the washer is secured transversely to the axis of the receipt element and against the lowermost plane of the system. The aperture of the washer is positioned axially symmetrically about the axis of the threadable receipt element of the system.

Self-locking strut nut system

A suspendable conduit bracket system includes a back bracket element defining, in transverse cross-section, an inner semicircle and an outer semicircle of greater radius than the inner semicircle, such semi-circles mutually integrally secured by ribbing elements, the inner semi-circle comprising a nesting element proportioned to the cross-sectional geometry of a conduit to be suspended. The bracket system further includes a radial portion protruding externally from the two semi-circles of the back element, passing through both of the semicircles, and having an element for selectable lockable engagement with a solid rectangular channel, a threaded radial channel extending through substantially the entire radial length of such channel, and proximally to the intersection of the radial portion with the back element, a rigid insert having a deformable aperture is secured transversely to the threaded channel. The aperture is positioned at an axial center of the threaded is proportioned for snap-fittable receipt of a threaded hanger rod advancable through the channel and through the deformable aperture of the rigid insert.
