Various antennas elements including antennas arrays can support various communication technologies and can be integrated into different components or subcomponents of a vehicle, including various vehicle light assemblies. The vehicular antennas elements include low profile and/or concealed antenna elements that are inconspicuous aesthetically and do not affect or substantially affect vehicle aerodynamics.

Embedded antennas structures for wireless communications and radar

Disclosed herein is an encapsulated antenna for reducing the impact of radio frequency interference (RFI) that may couple to the antenna at frequencies within the Wi-FI 5/6e bandwidths. The encapsulated antenna device may include an insulating housing and a metal layer arranged within a cavity of the housing. The encapsulated antenna device also includes an antenna device comprising a ground terminal and an antenna body, wherein the ground terminal is connected to the metal layer, wherein the antenna body is arranged above the metal layer and within the cavity. The encapsulated antenna device also includes a spacer between the metal layer and the antenna body that provides an offset distance between the metal layer and the antenna body.

Encapsulated wireless antenna for reducing the impact of radio frequency interference

An antenna module and communication device containing the antenna module are disclosed. The antenna module is disposed in a metal cavity. The antenna module includes a switched beam mm-wave antenna array having radiating elements separated by less than a wavelength of the radiating elements. The array is fed by a single transceiver chain. The array is disposed at the focal length of a low-profile mm-wave lens configured to steer the beam. A sub-10 GHz antenna is disposed closer to the opening of the cavity than the lens. The lens is a Fresnel Zone Plate lens having a focal length of less than about the wavelength of the beam, or a Saucer lens having shells of different refractive indexes and having a profile that is more than 6 times smaller than a Luneburg lens with a same focal length.

Orbital angular momentum (OAM)-based multiplexing includes accessing distinct data streams to be multiplexed and transmitted according to a corresponding plurality of OAM modes. The OAM-based multiplexing further includes generating a set of antenna element-specific signals corresponding to individual antenna elements of an antenna array. Individual ones of the antenna element-specific signals are based on corresponding distinct data streams.

A communication device may include a millimeter wave (mm-wave) antenna array having antenna elements, a mm-wave element (e.g. lens), and one or more transceivers (e.g. first and second transceivers). The mm-wave lens may be configured to adjust the first beam and the second beam as the first and second beams pass through the mm-wave lens. The first transceiver can selectively couple to the antenna elements, the first transceiver being configured to drive a first selected antenna element of the antenna elements to transmit a beam from the selected first antenna element. The second transceiver may selectively couple to the antenna elements, the second transceiver being configured to drive a second selected antenna element of the antenna elements to transmit a second beam from the selected second antenna element.

Lensing systems for wireless communications

A communication device for multi-radio access technology (RAT) communications includes one or more processors and a plurality of transceivers. Each transceiver is configured to operate in at least one RAT of a plurality of RATs. The processors are configured to establish connection with a second communication device using a first transceiver of the plurality of transceivers and a first RAT of the plurality of RATs. A first data stream associated with a communication link connected to the second communication device and a third communication device is receive via a convergence function at the second communication device. The communication link uses a second RAT of the plurality of RATs. A code sequence is applied to a second data stream to generate an encoded second data stream, which is transmitted to the third communication device via a second communication link established based on information received via the first data stream.

V2X communications using multiple radio access technologies (multi-RAT)

For example, when associated with moving with a plurality of mobile devices from coverage of a first cell to a second cell, the processing circuitry can detect the second cell.
