An apparatus for slicing a cartilage sample includes a rear cartilage support cup, a cartilage clamp, a front cartilage support, a cartilage receiving region, and a cartilage cutting element. The cartilage clamp has first and second clamp members spaced apart from and aligned in a clamping direction transverse to a longitudinal axis. The cartilage receiving region is bounded by the first and second clamp members, the front cartilage support, and the rear cartilage support cup. The cartilage cutting element is spaced rearwardly from the front cartilage support by a cartilage slice thickness, the cartilage cutting element being movable across the cartilage receiving region in a cutting direction transverse to the longitudinal axis.

Cartilage slicing apparatus and methods therefor

Magnetic resonance ('MR') visible markers for use in MR-guided placement of brachytherapy seeds, and for use in other MR-guided interventional procedures, are described. The MR-visible markers generally include a tube in which an absorbent thread assembly is disposed. The tube is made fluid-tight by sealing it at both ends with suitable end plugs. The absorbent thread assembly is soaked in a suitable MR-visible fluid.

Magnetic resonance visible markers for magnetic resonance imaging guided brachytherapy

A system for monitoring doses from an ionizing radiation source to a treatment region of a patient and immobilizing a body cavity relative to the treatment region, is provided. The system includes a probe body for insertion into the body cavity. The probe body separates the body cavity from the treatment region to reduce exposure to doses from the ionizing radiation source. Radiation detectors are disposed along the probe body to measure at least one dose. A slot disposed adjacent the radiation detectors receives a dosimetry film that, upon exposure to the one or more doses from the ionizing radiation source, indicates a quantification of the doses. A coupling is in fluid communication with a removable sheath having coupled thereto a vacuum or a pump to remove fluid or gas from the body cavity and ensure inner wall of the body cavity is in contact with the sheath.

System and method for endo-rectal retraction and organ immobilization for radiotherapy of the pelvis

A dosimeter that is configured to assist with patient-specific quality assurance ('QA') in arc-based radiotherapy, such as stereotactic radiotherapy, is provided. The dosimeter facilitates acquiring multiple different dosimetric measurements simultaneously. For instance, the dosimeter can be configured to acquire dosimetric measurements from multiple different modalities, including gel dosimetry and film dosimetry, and is configured for simultaneous use with a diode-array QA phantom.
