A method for manufacturing a sensor element for detecting (i) a gas component in a measuring gas or (ii) a temperature of the measuring gas includes: introducing at least one functional element into at least one slip at least once in such a way that a slip layer is applied to the functional element, the functional element including at least one solid electrolyte and at least one functional layer; sintering the slip layer on the functional element; grinding the slip layer at least in the area of the at least one functional layer; impregnating the slip layer; and thermally treating the impregnated slip layer.

A circuit configuration for operating a gas sensor is described, including a reference gas space in which an electrode is situated which is supplied with a reference gas pump current to maintain the concentration of the reference gas. A diagnostic system determines a concentration change of the reference gas via a change in the reference pump current and a time-based evaluation of the sensor signal of the gas sensor.

Circuit arrangement for operating a gas sensor

A gas sensor for determining a physical quantity of a gas component, e.g., in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, including a sensor element which contains at least one electrochemical cell. The electrochemical cell includes a first electrode and a second electrode that are arranged at a distance on at least one solid electrolyte, the second electrode is arranged in a reference gas space. A third electrode which is in contact with a gas located in the gas space is provided. The gas component may be exchanged between the gas space and the reference gas space using a voltage applied between the second electrode and the third electrode.

Gas sensor

A sensor element for determining the concentration of a gas component in a gas mixture, particularly for determining the oxygen concentration in exhaust gases of internal combustion engines. The sensor element includes at least one pump cell, which has at least one first pump electrode located in a measuring gas chamber and at least one second pump electrode, located on a surface of the sensor element facing the gas mixture, as well as at least one concentration cell, which has at least one reference electrode located in a reference gas chamber and at least one measuring electrode, located in the measuring gas chamber, which cooperates with the reference electrode. The measuring gas chamber and the reference gas chamber are essentially located in the same layer level (plane) of the sensor element which has a layered construction. At least one barrier layer is provided which, at least to a large extent, prevents ionic conduction between at least one electrode of the pump cell and at least one electrode of the concentration cell.

Electrochemical sensor element

A method of monitoring and controlling thermal spraying methods for coating the surface of substrates. During the spraying process, a substrate surface temperature is measured as a characteristic variable for the transferred layer mass or layer thickness, and, in the event of deviations from the nominal value, at least one method parameter that is significant for the transferred layer mass or layer thickness is changed. The method permits the creation of layers having a predetermined transferred layer mass or layer thickness and a narrow layer thickness distribution over the coated surface.
