Polymer alloys having improved toughness comprise a blend of 20 to 30 weight percent of a polyamide; 15 to 30 weight percent of a rubbery polymer and 60 to 40 weight percent of a vinyl polymer containing 1 to 10 weight percent of a vinyl isocyanate monomer. Preferred isocyanate monomers are m- or p-isopropenyl-alpha, alpha dimethylbenzyl isocyanate.

Styrenic polyamide alloy

A thermoplastic polymer comprising a styrenic monomer, an acrylate, a methacrylate and a block copolymer is provided which possesses an unexpected excellent balance of properties including good physical properties, good elongation and a high degree of transparency. Also provided are processes for the preparation of the thermoplastic polymer.

Transparent impact polymers

Polystyrene resins of high impact are provided by graft copolymerization of styrene with elastomeric polymers of a diene monomer in the presence of a peroxy-free azo catalyst such as 1-cyano-(tert-butylazo) cyclohexane.
