A system for sealing large volumes or gaps includes a flexible envelope that can assume the shape of the volume when filled with a foaming composition that expands the envelope to the boundaries of the volume. The foaming composition may be integral with the envelope or delivered in bulk by an external device. The foaming composition may be one or multiple parts, typically two parts such as a poly isocyanate and a polyols, in which case it is necessary to keep the two parts separate until foaming is desired. Separation may be accomplished by providing multiple compartments that deliver components via a mixing device into the interior. The envelope may include ribs for structural strength and shaping, and leak pores around its perimeter to enhance bonding and sealing. It may also include perforations for bulk, modular seals or for separation of portions of the envelope to seal irregular shapes.

Contained foam envelope for insulating and sealing large volumes

An insulation system includes roof sheathing panels, spaced apart structural members, a first insulation material, and a second insulation material. The first insulation material is disposed between pairs of the spaced apart structural members. The second insulation material is disposed across the spaced apart structural members and the first insulation material, such that both the spaced apart structural members and the first insulation material are covered by the second insulation material.

Roof insulation systems

An insulation system includes roof sheathing panels, spaced apart structural members, a plurality of pins, insulation support material, and insulation. The plurality of pins are secured to the roof sheathing panels, the structural members, or both. The insulation support material is connected to the pins to form an insulation cavity below the roof sheathing panels and below the structural members. Insulation is disposed on the insulation support material, between the spaced apart structural members and directly under the bottommost surfaces of the structural members.

A fibrous insulation member, a mechanism for attaching the insulation member to a building structure, and a method for attaching the insulation member to a structure utilizing the mechanism. The insulation member including a fibrous insulation body having a first lateral surface, a second lateral surface spaced apart from the first lateral surface, and a face extending from the first lateral surface to the second lateral surface. The insulation member also including a facing having a first portion attached to the face and extending the width of the face, and a second portion extending beyond the first lateral surface, the second portion having a first thickness and including a first guide having a second thickness greater than the first thickness.

Insulation with installation guide and apparatus and method for installing same

An attic stairway insulator assembly configured for placement within a building scuttle is provided. The building scuttle has a length and a width. The attic stairway insulator assembly includes a base configured to cover the building scuttle. The base has a length and a width corresponding generally to the length and the width of the building scuttle. A bag is seated on the base and has insulative material within a jacket. The bag has a length that is longer than the length of the base and a width that is wider than the width of the base such that portions of the bag having the insulative material drape over portions of the base.

Attic stairway insulator assembly

A system for sealing or insulating a large volume is provided. The system includes an envelope having walls defining an interior. The interior is configured to receive a foaming composition. The envelope is initially configured in a retracted configuration. A foaming composition is configured for insertion into the interior of the envelope. The envelope is configured such that the foaming composition expands the envelope such as to fill a large gap.

An air seal assembly is provided. The air seal assembly includes a plurality of segments configured to form a cavity. The cavity is configured to engage an edge of a construction material. A gasket material is applied to an exterior surface of one of the segments. In an installed position, the air seal assembly is configured to substantially seal gaps formed between the construction material and other materials forming a wall.

Air seal assembly

An insulated scuttle cover configured for placement within a building scuttle opening is provided. The insulated scuttle cover includes a scuttle panel configured to cover the building scuttle opening. The scuttle panel is further configured to be supported when positioned within the building scuttle opening. An insulated pouch assembly is positioned adjacent to the scuttle panel. The insulated pouch assembly includes insulation material sealed within a flexible pouch. The insulated pouch assembly is positioned on an attic side of the scuttle panel. The insulated scuttle cover is configured to prevent or substantially retard the flow of air passing through the building scuttle opening.

Energy efficient scuttle cover kits

Insulated scuttle covers configured for placement within a building scuttle opening are provided. The insulated scuttle cover includes a scuttle panel configured to cover the building scuttle opening and further configured to be supported when positioned within the building scuttle opening. An insulative assembly is attached to the scuttle panel. The insulative assembly includes insulation material encapsulated by a jacket. The insulated scuttle cover is configured to prevent or substantially retard the flow of air passing through the building scuttle opening.

An enclosure for a recessed light in an attic is transformable between a first configuration in which the enclosure is flat and a second configuration in which the enclosure defines a housing. The housing has an opening at a bottom end for receiving the recessed light and an upwardly-facing surface opposite the opening. The upwardly-facing surface has a variable height relative to the bottom end.

Lighting enclosure

A construction configuration for a building includes a fixture adhered to a framing structure with an adhesive system. The adhesive system has an outer pressure sensitive adhesive material, an inner pressure sensitive adhesive material, a bonding adhesive material, and at least one spacer material. The spacer material has at least one opening for containing a desired quantity of the bonding adhesive material.

Structured adhesive system

A grid system for torsion spring mounting of aluminum-framed panels is provided which includes a plurality of main grid beams and spacer bars. The main grid beams support a side load mounting clip formed with a slot in the side of the side load mounting clip to engage a torsion spring held by a spring retainer clip such that the panel is supported by the torsion spring. Disengagement of the torsion springs lowers the panels and permits access to the ceiling grid system above the panel members. In a preferred embodiment, the panel has a multifaceted profile including an edge surface that abuts a corresponding edge surface on an adjacent panel. The peripheral edges of the adjacent panel members diverge above the abutting edge surfaces to accommodate either the alignment fin or the tab of the tile stop and diverge below the abutting edge surfaces to form a reveal.

Accessible ceiling grid system

Acoustical diffuser apparatus for supporting and enhancing the performance of speakers. A preferred apparatus includes a diffuser panel that has an outwardly facing non-planar diffuser surface and an opening corresponding to each speaker for receiving at least a portion of the corresponding speaker therein. The diffuser panel does not cover the sound emitting surface of at least one speaker. The diffuser panel may have acoustically transparent material affixed thereto. Methods for installing the diffuser panels into existing wall or ceiling structures without compromising the structural integrity of such structures are also disclosed.
