A system and apparatus to track and control an animal is described, including a tracking unit to track the animal, and a stimulus unit to provide a stimulus to the animal, wherein the tracking unit and stimulus unit are configured to be coupled together. The stimulus unit is entirely a slave device to the tracking unit and has no independent smart circuitry, no independent power supply and no antennae. Accordingly, the stimulation unit is dependent upon the tracking unit for operation, power and for communication to and from a remote hand held control device.

The invention relates to a method for measuring and indicating a true direction of a tracked object. The invention also relates to an apparatus and a tracking system utilizing the method. The invention also relates to a direction determination circuitry and to a computer readable storage medium comprising computer readable code, which is utilized in the direction determination circuitry. In the method a radio-bearing device shows all the time on a display true directions wherefrom a radio-bearing have been taken. The direction of the maximum signal strength measurement is highlighted on the display.

The invention relates to a location method, a locating device, a locating arrangement and a computer program for tracking an object, such as a dog. The method utilises GPS locating, the event time of which may be controlled by the user. In addition, the user may define a data transmission network via which location data are primarily communicated to the tracker's device. By means of the frequency of measurements and the data transmission network used, the power consumption of the locating device of the object being tracked is minimised.

A directional antenna mechanism of a mobile radio tracking receiver, includes four antenna elements pivotably fastened to the body of the receiver. In use, the elements are turned to an operating position, in which they are pointed away from the body. After use, the elements can be turned to a transport position, in which they are placed inside the body in the direction of its longitudinal axis. At least two elements are connected to each other by a mechanism such that moving the first antenna element to the operating transport position also causes the second antenna element to move to the same position simultaneously. The mechanism includes a movable transmission rod inside the body, with toothings and toothed discs fastened to the ends of the elements, contacting the toothings. The rod is moved either manually by a lever fastened to the rod or by an actuator arranged inside the body.
