A system and method for managing transportation and storage of packages to individuals, includes a server; first and second devices having a proximity interface; and a package control device attached to a package. The server and the first and second devices include respective processors, memories and communication network interfaces. The server and the package control device include transport and storage information including authentication information to authorize a handover of the package, and message authentication information determined using authorization key information of the server, which communicates the transport and storage information over the communication network interface to the first and second devices, wherein the first or second device receives same over the proximity interface from the package control device and compares the authentication information from the server and that received from the package control device to authorize the handover of the package.

System and method for managing transportation and storage of goods

A system and method for managing transportation and storage of packages by crowd sourcing to individuals, including a server; first device and second devices having a proximity interface, with one device including a mobile device of a crowdsourced individual; and a package control device attached to a package. The server and first and second devices having a processor, a memory and a communication network interface. The server and the package control device having transport and storage information, including authentication information to authorize package handover. The server communicates the transport and storage information via the communication network interface with the first or second device, which communicates same over the proximity interface with the package control device. The first or the second device compares the authentication information communicated by the server and the package control device, and authorizes the handover of the package.

A method, system and computer program product for managing transportation and storage of goods, including a personal computer device; and a package control device associated with a package. The personal computer device is configured to store transport and storage operations information regarding the package in the package control device. The package control device is configured for identifying an operator responsible for at least one of transport and storage of the package based on the transport and storage operations information. The package control device is configured to allow the operator to have access to the package for at least one of transport and storage of the package based on the transport and storage operations information.

An approach is provided for collaborative context data sensing and communications. A context platform determines context data from a plurality of devices. Method and apparatus for providing collaborative context data sensing and communications

Various example embodiments are disclosed herein. In an example embodiment, an apparatus may include a controller, a memory coupled to the controller and a wireless transceiver coupled to the controller. The apparatus may be configured to receive, at a mobile station operating in Ad-Hoc mode in a wireless network, a message indicating that an access point (AP) has pending data in infrastructure network for the mobile station, and receive, at the mobile station the pending data from the AP.

Coordinating operation in infrastructure and ad-hoc modes for wireless networks

An incoming data packet is received, and a rate of change of residual capacity of a portable power supply is determined. From the determined rate of change it is decided to enqueue or drop the incoming data packet. If the decision is to enqueue, the packet is transmitted. If the decision is drop, the packet is deleted without transmitting. Additional factors may be considered in the decision, such as total energy capacity, residual energy capacity, and first and second derivatives of the residual energy capacity. Real time traffic may be treated differently than non real time traffic, and video enhancement layer packets can be weighted to drop more frequently than video base layer packets for the same flow. If used in the network, congestion probe packets are dropped at a rate matched to the rate at which data packets are dropped to give other nodes an accurate view of link quality.
