Embodiments of the present invention provide a human-machine interface (HMI) for a vehicle, comprising an output means () for outputting information, passenger monitoring means () for determining a status of at least one passenger within the vehicle and to outputting a passenger status signal indicative thereof, control means () for determining an operating state of one or more systems of the vehicle, wherein the control means () is arranged to receive the passenger status signal, and wherein the control means () is arranged to compose an output from the output means () in dependence on the operating state of the one or more systems and the passenger status signal.

Interface apparatus and method

The present disclosure relates to a human machine interface () for a vehicle (). The human machine interface () includes a first output device () for outputting information relating to a vehicle system (VS). The human machine interface () includes a controller () having at least one processor () having an input for receiving a driver status signal (D). A memory device () is coupled to the at least one processor () and has instructions stored therein. The at least one processor () is configured to determine an operating state of said vehicle system (VS) and to control said first output device () to output information relating to the determined operating state. The at least one processor () is configured to compose the information to be output in dependence on the received driver status signal (D). Vehicle interface apparatus and method

The present invention relates to a vehicle control system () for controlling a trailer () coupled to a vehicle () during a reversing operation. The vehicle control system includes a processor () configured to determine an actual trailer travel direction (T) based on one or more sensor signals. The processor () receives a demanded trailer travel direction (T), for example from a user. A maximum permissible hitch angle (&#x3d5;) is calculated by the processor () and the demanded trailer travel direction (T) is limited to an angle less than or equal to the calculated maximum permissible hitch angle (&#x3d5;). System for a towing vehicle

The present disclosure relates to a display control apparatus () for dynamically controlling the display of information in a vehicle (). The display control apparatus () comprises a controller () having at least one electronic processor (). The at least one electronic processor () is configured to control first and second displays (). In dependence on a determined gaze direction of the vehicle driver, the at least one electronic processor () controls a switching module () to cause a first information data set (INF) displayed on said first display () to be displayed on said second display (). The present disclosure also relates to a method of controlling the display of information in a vehicle ().

Display control apparatus and method

The present invention relates to a haptic pedal () for a vehicle (). The pedal comprises a plurality of piezoelectric actuators () operable for providing haptic feedback to a driver through the footrest () and sensing means () for mapping the area of the footrest in contact with a driver's foot so that haptic feedback is delivered by selective activation of actuators in the mapped area. The invention also comprises a haptic feedback system including the haptic pedal () and a controller () for receiving an input from the sensing means () relating to the area of the footrest in contact with the driver's foot and for delivering an output to selectively activate piezoelectric actuators overlapping the contact area in dependence on a sensed state of the vehicle. The haptic feedback system may be implemented as part of the vehicle's navigation system.

The invention relates to a display control apparatus () for dynamically controlling the display of information in a vehicle (). The display control apparatus () comprises a controller () having at least one electronic processor (). The at least one electronic processor () is configured to control first and second displays (). One or more modes of transport for completing at least a portion of the journey are identified. The processor generates a travel route from the start location to the destination. The generated route includes a plurality of modes of transport. At least one of the one or more identified modes of transport is selected in dependence on one or more preferences associated with the user. Also provided is a method of planning a travel route.

The present application relates to a communication system for controlling the output of messages to a vehicle occupant. The signal from said one or more sensors is analysed to determine one or more parameters relating to the response of the vehicle occupant to said first message. The communication system controls the subsequent output of at least said first message in dependence on said one or more determined parameters. The present invention relates to a vehicle control system () for controlling a vehicle () to facilitate parking a trailer () coupled to the vehicle (). The vehicle control system includes a processor () configured to identify a target parking destination (P) for the trailer (). The current position of the trailer () is determined by the processor (). A target route (R) is then modelled to guide the trailer () from its current position to the target parking destination (P). Vehicle control system

A system () for monitoring available space to maneuver a vehicle () to align a tow hitch () mounted to the vehicle with a trailer coupling () mounted to a trailer (). An imaging system () is provided to generate image data. A processor () is configured to analyze said image data to identify obstructions proximal to said vehicle and/or to said trailer and to determine if there is sufficient space available to maneuver the vehicle to align the tow hitch with the trailer coupling.
