For a first POI of the plurality of POIs, a first set of textual content is generated with a first machine-learned POI-specific language model configured to generate textual content from a perspective of the first POI. For a second POI of the plurality of POIs, a second set of textual content is generated with a second machine-learned POI-specific language model configured to generate textual content from a perspective of the second POI. At least some of the second set of textual content is provided to the user computing device.

An augmented reality (AR) overlay augments traditional menu items with corresponding photos, thereby facilitating a decision-making process of a user ordering from the menu. In addition to providing imagery of the menu items listed, other information may also be supplied, such as ratings, reviews etc. In this regard, users can visualize what to expect before ordering, and can order with a greater degree of confidence that they will enjoy the menu item they select.

Aspects of the technology evaluate places that are familiar to a given user in order to provide contextualized location information about other places of interest. This may include evaluating the actual number of visits by the given user to one or more locations in a given geographical area. For instance, places that have been visited a sufficient number of times within a particular timeframe are identified as personal landmarks for that user. Thus, when the user searches for a specific place or otherwise requests results that fit a query, the system can use the personalized landmark information to help rank search results and to provide location cues to aid the user to quickly and efficiently arrive at the location of the search result. Personal landmarks are necessarily familiar to the user, and thus can reduce the number of turn-by-turn directions or simplify the graphical interface of the client device.

Generating directions and routes with personalized landmarks

A method is implemented in a computing device having an operating system configured to capture screenshot images in response to entries of a pre-defined user input. In the method, an application executing on the computing device detects an entry of the pre-defined user input, identifies one or more executable features of the application that each use information corresponding to a current state or mode of the application to perform a respective set of one or more functions, generates a selectable link for each of the identified executable features, and presents, on the display, the generated selectable links such that a selection by the user of any one of the generated selectable links causes the respective set of functions to be performed.

An interactive digital map of a geographic area is provided via a user interface of a user device, with the currently visible portion of the interactive digital map visible within a viewport. The viewport is repositioned from an initial position on the digital map to a target position on the digital map along a trajectory in accordance with one or more user commands. For different positions on the trajectory of the viewport, navigation directions to a geographic location near a center of the viewport are automatically retrieved, without receiving commands via the user interface to obtain navigation directions to the geographic location. The navigation directions having a first and second levels of detail are retrieved for a first and second points on the trajectory, respectively, the first level of detail including less information than the second level of detail. The navigation directions are displayed via the user interface.

Systems and methods for providing an interactive user interface that displays anticipated weather conditions alongside a plurality of available trips between an origin and a destination are provided. An exemplary user interface can include a plurality of trip identifiers on a graph having an axis indicative of time. For example, the plurality of trip identifiers can respectively represent a plurality of available transit trips. For example, each trip identifier can provide an intuitive sense regarding the overall duration of the trip, a number of transfers or legs for each trip, time spent in each leg of the trip, a mode of transportation associated with each leg of each trip, and/or other information. The anticipated weather conditions associated with the trips can be presented alongside the plurality of trip identifiers.

An interactive user interface for displaying available trips is provided. The user interface includes a calendar overview tool. An exemplary computing system has a processor and a memory. The computing system is configured to perform operations including obtaining data describing a plurality of trips between an origin and a destination. Each trip has a departure time and an arrival time. The operations also include respectively representing the plurality of trips with a plurality of trip identifiers at different positions on a first axis of a graph. The graph has units of time on a second axis. Each trip identifier extends from the arrival time to the departure time of the trip such trip identifier represents. An interval of time depicted by the graph can be adjusted by a user.
