A barrier having a fluid-fillable body made of a non-rigid sheet material, a plurality of planar support members within the body for maintaining a desired shape of the barrier and a port for introducing fluid into the barrier.

Flood barrier

A water containment device and levee for impeding a flow of water. The water containment device includes a body portion having a first end, a second end, a base, and a first side and a second side attached to the base. At least one valve is disposed in the first end for introducing a water into the body portion. A flap is also provided that is integrally formed with the body portion and extends outward therefrom. The flap for receiving another water containment device thereon and impeding movement of the water containment device. The flap is also used to divert the flow of water away from the levee should the level of the water exceed the levee.

A first electrode arrangement and a transport element are movable relative to a support. A working space is disposed between the movable elements for advancing moist material along a processing path. As the moist material advances, electrical current is passed through the material between the first electrode arrangement and a second electrode arrangement adjacent the transport element. An acoustic transducer arrangement disposed adjacent the working space simultaneously subjects the moist material to an acoustic field as the material moves along the processing path. The acoustic field is generated by an array of acoustic transducers spaced along part of the processing path.

Apparatus and method for removal of liquids

A composting method is disclosed for accelerated decomposition of organic matter. The organic matter is deposited into a chamber of a vessel. A ram moves through a relatively short stroke within one end of the vessel so that organic matter deposited in the vessel at one end may be moved through the chamber and discharged at the other end as a result of each successive charge of matter pushing the preceding charge forward through the vessel by the action of the ram. An optimum range of compaction density for the particular organic matter being processed is determined. Also, an angle of disposition for the vessel relative to the horizontal is established for the particular organic matter being processed. This angle of disposition is established so as to cause the amount of compressive force necessary to move the organic matter through the vessel to be such as to achieve the optimum range of compaction density. That is, the angular disposition resulting from the determining and establishing steps influences the relative ease with which organic matter will slide through the chamber of the vessel to, in turn, control the compaction density for the particular organic matter being processed so that such compaction density will fall within the optimum range.

Composting method and apparatus utilizing inclined vessel

A composting method and apparatus is disclosed for accelerated decomposition of organic matter. The organic matter is deposited into a chamber of a vessel. A ram moves through a relatively short stroke within one end of the vessel so that organic matter deposited in the vessel at one end may be moved through the chamber and discharged at the other end as a result of each successive charge of material pushing the preceding charge forward through the vessel by the action of the ram. The vessel includes a set of orifices in a floor of the chamber for introducing pressurized air into the vessel. During the normal composting operation, pressurized air passes through these orifices at a relatively low intensity to aerate the organic matter. At certain times during operation of the ram, a surge of pressurized air will be introduced into the chamber of the vessel through the orifices at such an intensity as to effect movement of the organic matter through the chamber with a ram force which is substantially less than the ram force required to move the organic matter absent the surge of air. This provides a substantially less dense mass of organic matter moving through the chamber of the vessel than would be produced without the delivery of the surge of pressurized air.

Composting method and apparatus utilizing air assist to aid in movement

A squeeze plate apparatus for a belt press is provided. The apparatus has a squeeze plate operatively connected to a rotating pipe. The pipe is mounted to the frame of the belt press. The vertical spacing between the squeeze plate and the pipe varies during rotation of the pipe so that the squeezing action of the plate can be selectively varied.

Apparatus for regulating feed thickness in a belt press

A dewatering method and apparatus is disclosed which uses a ramp at one end of a perforate conveyor in which the incline of the ramp may be adjusted while the dewatering operation is taking place. The ramp receives material to be further dewatered after the material has moved along the length of the perforate conveyor. The ramp causes the material to roll back upon itself as the material tends to move up the ramp, which rolling back action enhances dewatering. An actuator is coupled with said ramp for effecting movement of said ramp with respect to the conveyor to adjust the incline of the ramp with respect to the upper surface of the conveyor. In this way, the operator may readily optimize the rolling back action of the material to be dewatered to, in turn, thereby provide optimum dewatering. The ramp is also capable of being completely lifted out of the flow of material to be dewatered while the apparatus is in operation and while the dewatering process is being carried out.

A portable, lightweight solar panel for mounting against window panes which incorporates an array of absorbers, diffusers and flow directors, reflectors, heat storage elements and an automatic flow directing valve. The heat concentrators are corrugated elements located to reflect heat and light from contact with the reflective surface to collectors located in the unit. The collectors or heat storage elements are positioned in the troughs of the corrugated elements and the tubular elements are in stand off relation to receive the parabolic focusing projection of the sun's rays. These units act as heat supplement means for interior space.

Portable pane mountable solar panel

A product is vacuum sealed between bottom and top sheets of plastic film by pre-forming the bottom sheet with a series of transverse, parallel channels and then heating and lowering the top sheet over the bottom sheet to sandwich the product therebetween. The bottom sheet has a width less than the top sheet so that a communication means to the exterior is provided with the respective channels. With this arrangement, a vacuum can be drawn from the channels and thus evacuate the air between the plastic sheets to effect the desired vacuum sealing.
