Example aspects of a remote-operated flushing system and a method of operating a flushing system are disclosed. The remote-operated flushing system can comprise a fluid routing assembly comprising a valve, the valve configurable in an open configuration, wherein fluid is permitted to flow through the fluid routing assembly, and a closed configuration, wherein the fluid is prohibited from flowing through the fluid routing assembly; and a control device configured to actuate the valve between the open configuration and closed configuration; a remote operation device wirelessly connected to the control device and configured to remotely operate the control device to control the actuation of the valve between the open configuration and closed configuration.

Remote-operated flushing system

A fluid flushing system includes a sampling port comprising a sampling conduit configured to dispense a sample of a fluid in the fluid routing assembly; a valve configurable in an open valve configuration, wherein the fluid is permitted to flow through the fluid flushing system, and a closed valve configuration, wherein the fluid is prohibited from flowing through the fluid flushing system; and a backflow preventer disposed between the sampling port and the valve, the backflow preventer configured to allow the fluid to flow in a first direction through the fluid flushing system towards the valve and to prevent the fluid from flowing in an opposite second direction through the fluid flushing system towards the sampling port.

A curb stop assembly includes a curb stop valve defining a valve inlet, a valve outlet, and a fluid passageway therebetween; a curb stop sleeve coupled to and extending outward from curb stop valve; and a curb stop rod received in the curb stop sleeve and configured to actuate the curb stop valve between a closed valve configuration and an open valve configuration; wherein, in the closed valve configuration, fluid is prevented from flowing through the fluid passageway, and in the open valve configuration, wherein fluid is permitted to flow through the fluid passageway.

A method for using a fluid testing system in fluid communication with a fluid piping system includes providing a pit housing, the pit housing defining an interior pit cavity, a curb stop valve of a curb stop assembly mounted within the interior pit cavity; opening the curb stop valve to permit fluid to flow through the curb stop valve and into a sampling pipe, the sampling pipe at least partially mounted within the interior pit cavity; and dispensing a fluid sample of the fluid from the sampling pipe through a sampling assembly, the sampling assembly mounted within a sampling station housing.

The remote-operated flushing system can comprise a fluid routing assembly comprising a valve, the valve configurable in an open configuration, wherein fluid is permitted to flow through the fluid routing assembly, and a closed configuration, wherein the fluid is prohibited from flowing through the fluid routing assembly; a control device configured to actuate the valve between the open configuration and closed configuration; a remote operation device wirelessly connected to the control device and configured to remotely operate the control device to control the actuation of the valve between the open configuration and closed configuration; and a sensor configured to detect a fluid property of the fluid within the fluid routing assembly, wherein the control device is configured to wirelessly send a signal representative of the fluid property detected by the sensor.

Example aspects of a pit assembly, a fluid testing system, and a method for using a fluid testing system are disclosed. The pit assembly can comprise a pit housing; a curb stop assembly comprising a curb stop valve, the curb stop valve mounted within the pit housing; and a pressure transducer mounted within the pit housing.

A water control device includes a valve, the valve including a valve body, the valve body including a first end and a second end, the valve body defining a transmission cavity allowing fluid communication between the first end and the second; a control mechanism located within the transmission cavity, the control mechanism arranged to provide modifiable fluid control within the valve; at least one sensor, the at least one sensor being in fluid communication with the transmission cavity; and at least one remote transmission unit in electronic communication with the sensor.

Distribution system monitoring

Methods, systems, and computer-readable storage media for controlling and monitoring an electro-mechanical flushing mechanism in a pressurized water distribution system. A first pressure reading of water in a supply channel is taken, the supply channel being in fluid communication with a distribution line of the water distribution system and terminated by a flushing valve. The flushing valve is then actuated causing the valve to change state. A second pressure reading is taken of the water in the supply channel and a difference between the first and second pressure readings is computed. The computed difference is compared to a minimum pressure differential value, and, upon determining that the difference is not greater than the minimum pressure differential value, a central control system of the water distribution system is alerted that a valve failure has occurred.

A removable cartridge configured for installation in a pit including a pit connector, the removable cartridge including a cartridge connector configured to operatively couple in fluid communication to the pit connector; a locking mechanism mounted to the cartridge connector and selectively movable about and between a locked position and an unlocked position, the locked position configured to securely couple the cartridge connector to the pit connector, the unlocked position configured to release the cartridge connector from the pit connector; and a piping system connected in fluid communication with the cartridge connector.

In one example implementation, a flushing apparatus performs steps comprising flushing the water distribution system in accordance with a residual flush program, flushing the water distribution system in accordance with a turbidity flush program, flushing the water distribution system in accordance with a pH flush program, and flushing the water distribution system in accordance with a time-based flushing program.

Systems and methods for controlling flushing apparatus and related interfaces

A pit assembly can include a pit liner defining an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining an interior of the pit liner, the inner surface and the outer surface further defining a pit opening proximate to an upper portion of the pit liner; a pit connector positioned in the interior of the pit liner; a removable cartridge positionable within the interior of the pit liner, the removable cartridge comprising a chassis, a cartridge connector mounted to the chassis and configured to operatively couple in fluid communication to the pit connector, and a piping system in fluid communication with the cartridge connector and mounted to the chassis; and a locking mechanism selectively movable about and between a locked position and an unlocked position.

A flushing device includes an enclosure having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface defining an interior of the enclosure and the outer surface defining an exterior of the enclosure, the inner surface and the outer surface further defining an access opening proximate an upper portion of the enclosure; a discharge conduit; a platform situated within the enclosure, the platform having a top surface and a bottom surface, the platform movable to proximate the access opening; and a U-shaped rigid fluid routing support pipe mounted to the platform and in fluid communication with the discharge conduit.

In-ground flushing device

A flushing device includes an enclosure having an access opening; a discharge conduit; a fluid system conduit; a platform situated within the enclosure, the platform having a top surface and a bottom surface, the top surface facing the access opening and movable to proximate the access opening; a flushing valve mounted on the platform and in fluid communication with the fluid system conduit, the flushing valve operatively connected to a flushing controller, the flushing valve controllable by the flushing controller; and a meter mounted on the top surface of the platform, the meter including a meter inlet and a meter outlet, the meter inlet in fluid communication with the flushing valve, the flushing valve in fluid communication with the meter and the fluid system conduit, the meter outlet in fluid communication with the discharge conduit.

A programmable automated water flushing system (PAWFS) allows for two way communication and remote flushing unit management through a secure web access point or a secure interface in signal communication with a supervisory control and data acquisition system. The PAWFS is configurable to provide and log real time data. The PAWFS can be integrated with exterior water management devices. The PAWFS is configurable to cause flushing of water retention areas when disinfectant residual falls below selectable parameters. The PAWFS can be programmed to flush or clear liquids in accordance with at least one time-based function.
