The system, apparatus and method of the present invention provide telecommunication conferencing services in a multiple leg telecommunication session. One of the system embodiments includes a database and a switching center. The database has stored in a memory a plurality of secondary directory numbers and a conference parameter associated with a primary directory number. The switching center has an interface for receiving an incoming call leg designating the primary directory number and for determining whether the primary directory number and its associated plurality of secondary directory numbers are configured for a conference mode. When so configured for the conference mode, the switching center includes further instructions to process and route each outgoing call leg associated with each secondary directory number of the plurality of secondary directory numbers to form a plurality of outgoing call legs, to monitor answering of the plurality of outgoing call legs, and to connect an answered outgoing call leg, of the plurality of outgoing call legs, to the incoming call leg for a multiple leg telecommunication conferencing session.

Apparatus, method and system for providing telecommunication conferencing services in a multiple leg telecommunication session

A wireless telecommunication system receives information from a wireless mobile unit associated with a category of information (such as &ldquo;shopping&rdquo; for example); and determines that the wireless mobile unit has entered a region including a site associated with the category of information (such as a shopping mall, for example). Information specific to the site and category is then received at a centrally located location-based message server. As the traveler enters the region including the mall, for example, the wireless mobile unit then receives information specific to the site and category such as information relating to sales at the mall. Alternatively, information relating to a category and site received, and all wireless mobile units within a region including the site are then identified so that the received information relating to the category can be output thereto. As such, desired information specific to a region occupied to a traveler is received.

Method and apparatus for a wireless telecommunication system that provides location-based messages

A system, apparatus and method are provided for subscriber control of timed and regional membership in multiple member termination groups for multiple leg telecommunication sessions, such as for providing outgoing call legs for a flexible alerting service, to different groups of members, at different times of day or different geographic locations. The preferred system includes a home location register coupled to a mobile switching center. The home location register has, stored in a memory, a plurality of secondary directory numbers associated with a primary directory number, and includes instructions to determine whether each secondary directory number, of the plurality of secondary directory numbers, is currently incorporated within a selected alerting group based upon a predefined time period parameter or a geographic location parameter for a mobile unit corresponding to the secondary directory number. The mobile switching center has an interface for receiving an incoming call leg designating the primary directory number and for differentially processing and routing each outgoing call leg associated with each secondary directory number currently incorporated within the selected alerting group.

Apparatus, method and system for subscriber control of timed and regional membership in multiple member termination groups for multiple leg telecommunication sessions

An apparatus, method and system are disclosed for providing call progress and status information for multiple leg telecommunication sessions, such as for flexible alerting, for intelligent network services. The preferred wireless system embodiment includes a home location register and a mobile switching center. The home location register stores a plurality of secondary directory numbers associated with a pilot directory number. The mobile switching center differentially processes and routes each outgoing call leg associated with each secondary directory number, to form a plurality of outgoing call legs. As the various outgoing call legs may be answered, not answered, released, have routing failures, or return busy signals, the mobile switching center generates corresponding call progress and status information. In the preferred embodiment, such call progress and status information includes parameters, for each outgoing call leg, such as time to answer, answer reason, no answer reason, busy reason, page response reason, no page response reason, and routing failure reason. The mobile switching center transmits the call progress and status information to the home location register, for subsequent dynamic utilization in providing intelligent network services, preferably utilizing a modified, ANSI-41 compatible information directive.

Apparatus method and system for providing call progress information for multiple leg telecommunication sessions for intelligent network services

A wireless communications system provides call transfer capability for an incoming call to a mobile subscriber unit. The mobile subscriber unit requests the call transfer to a serving MSC. The serving MSC relays the request to a home location register, and the home location register executes the request by initiating the call transfer in conjunction with an originating MSC. This arrangement obviates the need for supporting call transfer on the serving MSC and the need for inter-MSC facilities once the call transfer is completed. Moreover, the approach of the present invention enables call transfer to be ubiquitously supported within a wireless communications system.

An exemplary embodiment exploits the present invention in a wireless system utilizing ANSI-41 messaging.

Method and apparatus for suppressing route request messages for wireless gateway applications

An apparatus, method and system are disclosed for providing variable termination and alerting patterns, based upon call progress information, for multiple leg telecommunication sessions, such as for flexible alerting. The preferred wireless system embodiment includes a home location register (HLR) and a mobile switching center (MSC). The HLR stores a plurality of secondary directory numbers(with corresponding routing parameters) associated with a pilot directory number. The MSC differentially processes and routes each outgoing call leg associated with each secondary directory number, to form a plurality of outgoing call legs. As the various outgoing call legs may be answered, not answered, released, have routing failures, or return busy signals, the MSC generates, and transmits to the HLR, corresponding call progress and status information. Based upon such information, the HLR may dynamically vary the termination and alerting patterns for outgoing call legs corresponding to the secondary directory numbers. When the call progress and status information indicates a misrouting of an outgoing call leg of the plurality of outgoing call legs, the HLR has instructions to delete a secondary directory number corresponding to the misrouted outgoing call leg from the first plurality of secondary directory numbers, which will create a different termination pattern for the next session. The HLR also includes instructions, when the call progress and status information indicates a variance from subscriber parameters, to adjust a termination and alerting pattern corresponding to the first plurality of secondary directory numbers, such as increasing or decreasing routing parameters, including timing delay parameters and no answer time parameters.

Apparatus, method and system for providing variable termination patterns for multiple telecommunication sessions

An apparatus, method and system are provided which, for a wireless telecommunication session handled by a mobile switching center, allow an adjunct network entity, such as an intelligent peripheral, a service node, a service control point, or another switching center, to maintain control over the telecommunication session and, in the preferred embodiment, provide intelligent network services. Such control is provided without the adjunct network entity monitoring or maintaining a direct connection the telecommunication session, such as a voice path or other circuit-based connection. In the various embodiments, the adjunct network entity maintains such control through the transmission of a control message to the mobile switching center, in which the control message includes various directives to the mobile switching center, such as a redirection directive, directing the switching center to route or reroute a call leg to specified digits; an announcement directive, directing the switching center to play a specified announcement during the telecommunication session; or an action directive, directing the switching center to perform a specified action such as releasing the telecommunication session.

The preferred system includes a home location register coupled to a mobile switching center. The home location register has, stored in a memory, a plurality of secondary directory numbers associated with a primary directory number, such as an ANSI compatible pilot directory number, and for each secondary directory number of the plurality of secondary directory numbers, further stored in the memory a corresponding timing delay parameter, a corresponding no answer time parameter, and a corresponding no answer termination trigger. Variation of the various corresponding timing delay parameters and no answer time parameters produces the variable alerting patterns. The mobile switching center has an interface for receiving an incoming call leg designating the primary directory number and for differentially processing and routing each outgoing call leg associated with each secondary directory number, of the plurality of secondary directory numbers, according to its corresponding timing delay parameter, to form a plurality of outgoing call legs; and unless an outgoing call leg of the plurality of outgoing legs has been answered, for alerting each outgoing call leg for a time period of its corresponding no answer time parameter and, upon an expiration of the time period, for treating each outgoing call leg according to its corresponding no answer termination trigger.

Apparatus, method and system for providing variable alerting patterns for multiple leg telecommunication sessions

An apparatus, method and system provide for conditional answering in multiple leg telecommunication sessions, such as in a flexible alerting service. The preferred system includes a home location register (HLR) coupled to a mobile switching center (MSC). The HLR has, stored in a memory, a plurality of secondary directory numbers associated with a primary directory number, such as an ANSI compatible pilot directory number. The MSC has an interface for receiving an incoming call leg designating the primary directory number and for processing and routing each outgoing call leg associated with each secondary directory number. Following reception of a directive from the HLR, the MSC obtains information from a calling party to create called party information. When an outgoing call leg has been conditionally answered, the MSC provides the called party information on the conditionally answered outgoing call leg. Upon reception of the information, the called party may decide to accept the call, through an unconditional answer, or may hold or release the call. In the preferred embodiment, the called party information may include options or selections entered by the calling party, the name of the calling party, routing information, language selections, and product or service selections. Following an unconditional answer of an outgoing call leg, the MSC provides a connection between the unconditionally answered outgoing call leg and the incoming call leg to form a communication session.

Apparatus, method and system for providing conditional answering in multiple leg telecommunication sessions

A system, apparatus and method are provided for providing information to a called party of multiple leg telecommunication sessions, such as in a flexible alerting service. The preferred system includes a home location register coupled to a mobile switching center. The home location register has, stored in a memory, a plurality of secondary directory numbers associated with a primary directory number, such as an ANSI compatible pilot directory number. The mobile switching center has an interface for receiving an incoming call leg designating the primary directory number and for differentially processing and routing each outgoing call leg associated with each secondary directory number, of the plurality of secondary directory numbers, the mobile switching center further providing in each outgoing call leg, of a plurality of outgoing call legs, first called party information distinguishing each outgoing call leg as a multiple leg telecommunication session. In the preferred embodiment, a waiting signal is provided to called parties, such as a steady, audible tone.

Apparatus, method and system for providing information to a called party

The system for auxiliary monitoring of emergency access calls functions to identify the geographical location of the origination point of the emergency access call and interconnects the appropriate emergency response agency that serves this geographic location to the emergency access call. The emergency access system is programmed to divide the covered region into a plurality of cells, with each cell defining a serving emergency agency and/or serving auxiliary emergency agency. Upon receipt of an incoming emergency call from a telephone station, the switching system determines the location from which the emergency access call originated, and which cell(s) define the serving emergency agency for this location. The system directs the incoming call to the designated emergency service agency as well as any serving auxiliary emergency agency that would be involved in the emergency response to the incoming emergency call. The identified serving auxiliary emergency agency would then be alerted in one of a number of possible ways: simple alert alarm without further data, listen-only bridging on to the incoming emergency call, two-way voice connection on incoming emergency call. The selected mode of alert enables the serving auxiliary emergency agency to either prepare to enable access to the appropriate emergency response agencies and/or actively participate in the response.

The preferred system includes a home location register coupled to a mobile switching center. The home location register has, stored in a memory, a plurality of secondary directory numbers associated with a primary directory number, such as an ANSI compatible pilot directory number, and for each secondary directory number of the plurality of secondary directory numbers, further stored in the memory a corresponding originating no answer time parameter. The mobile switching center has an interface for receiving an incoming call leg designating the primary directory number and for differentially processing and routing each outgoing call leg associated with each secondary directory number, and the mobile switching center further providing secondary treatment of each outgoing call leg in accordance with its corresponding originating no answer time parameter. In the preferred embodiment, each corresponding originating no answer time parameter, for each outgoing call leg, is less than a corresponding terminating no answer time parameter which may be utilized by a terminating switch or end office.
