A snowshoe having both a compact stored configuration and a usable configuration is disclosed. A frame of the snowshoes includes a plurality of segments which can be disconnected from each other, folded upon each other, or telescopically inserted into one another thus allowing the frame to be collapsed to a fraction of its original size when not being used. When collapsed the effective length of the frame members is greatly reduced. The frame can be readily assembled and disassembled. The frame is fabricated from a material which is both lightweight and strong. Also disclosed is a snowshoe binding structure which is also lightweight and compactible to a small size and particularly suited for use with a compatible snowshoe. A deck, fabricated from a flexible material, is coupled to the frame during use and is removed when the frame is compacted for storage. When in its compact storage configuration the snowshoe components are arranged in an easily stored bundle.

Compactible snowshoes and bindings and method of assembly

An improved automatic rivet feed apparatus which can be used as a retrofit to an existing power driven riveting tool or incorporated integrally into a riveting tool. A rivet strip holds each of the plurality of rivets at individual fixed positions on the rivet strip. Included is a rivet strip release hook which stops the rivets, as they are advanced one-by-one, at rivet pick-up point and releases each of the rivets from the rivet strip. A hand mounted on the end of a pneumatic ram grips the rivets at the rivet pick-up point, the hand having a biased latch to prevent slippage of the rivets. The pneumatic ram moves the rivet forward and rotates to place the rivet in alignment with the nose piece of the riveting tool. The pneumatic ram then retracts and inserts the mandrel of the rivet into the nose piece and returns to the rivet pick-up point to repeat the steps. A rivet pick-up mechanism is used to hold the rivet as it is released from the rivet strip and moved to the nose piece of the rivet strip.

Hinge for ladders and the like

A wall stand-off apparatus and method for supporting virtually any ladder adjacent to a substantially vertical surface. The novel wall stand-off apparatus of the present invention comprises a U-shaped support bar which forms two, substantially parallel legs. Each leg is provided with an extension member, such that the legs are individually adjustable in length. Two clamps are pivotally connected to the support bar. Each clamp comprises two movable, opposing jaws which are adapted to be attached to a portion of the ladder which is inserted therebetween. Each clamp includes a thumbscrew such that when a ladder's side rail or rung is inserted into the clamp, the thumbscrew may be tightened so as to firmly secure the clamp to the ladder. With both clamps properly secured to either the side rails or a rung of a ladder, the ladder may thereafter be leaned against a substantially vertical wall, with the legs of the support bar resting against the wall. The length of each leg may then be adjusted, as needed, by using the above-mentioned leg extension members.

Wall stand-off apparatus

An adjustable sawhorse having a work platform removably mounted atop two pairs of side rails. A pair of hinges connect the side rails of each side rail pair at one end thereof. The hinges may be selectively locked or unlocked to accommodate folding and unfolding of the sawhorse from a folded configuration to an upright configuration and vice versa. Each pair of side rails is also slidably mounted on another pair of side rails to accommodate extension thereof. Locking handles are provided for each extensible set of side rails so that they may be locked into one or more extended positions. Steps are mounted between each pair of side rails to enhance the versatility and use of the sawhorse.

Sawhorse

A combination step and extension ladder is disclosed. Hinges are provided on each of the side rails of the ladder so that the ladder may be folded and unfolded from a step ladder configuration to a straight extension ladder configuration and vice versa. Additional side rails are provided which are telescopically mounted so that the ladder can be extended to increase its height in either of the step ladder or extension ladder configurations. Each of the ladder rungs are provided with two flat stepping surfaces which are symmetrically angularly oriented with respect to the side rails of the ladder so that at least one of the surfaces of each rung will present an essentially horizontal stepping surface whenever the ladder is in an upright position, either as a step ladder or as an extension ladder, and irrespective of which end of the side rails the ladder is standing on.

Ladder platform

A combination work table and vise. The work table is vertically adjustable and has a tiltable work platform which is tiltable about a longitudinal axis so as to provide a sloped working surface. The tiltable work platform also reduces the dimensions of the work table for transportation and storage. The work platform includes at least two leaves, at least one of which can be moved laterally relative to the other to provide a vise action between the leaves. Lateral leaf movement is accomplished by means of a hand crank and screw combination. The hand crank is rotatably mounted to a first leaf while the screw is threadedly engaged in a swivel block mounted to a second leaf. Rotation of the hand crank moves at least one leaf relative to the other and thereby accommodates clamping a workpiece between the two leaves in an action similar to the jaws of a vise. The swivel accommodates asymetrical, lateral movement of the second leaf thereby accommodating clamping of a nonsymetrical object between the two leaves. The hand crank may also be interconnected to a second swivel to provide both leaves with asymetrical lateral movement.
