In a seeding implement, an opener assembly including a compact, arc-shaped opener with a point supported below the surface of the ground during the field-working operation to prevent hairpinning of trash and allow high-speed seeding. The compact configuration reduces variations in seed placement and minimizes side bend forces. The nose configuration of the opener limits the amount of soil that is lifted and thrown to accommodate narrow row spacings. A notched structure is removably mounted on the boot standard of the assembly and the opener is attached to the structure with a single pin. The support structure bears substantially all the loading on the opener during operation and provides convenient mounting and removal of the opener.

Opener assembly including a compact, arc-shaped opener

A grinder-mixer having a trough-shaped mixing tank, a horizontal transfer and mixing auger seated along the bottom of the tank and extending into the hammer mill, and a vertical auger in the tank for elevating the material for recirculation or discharge. Mixing capacity is increased with the larger tank and bridging of material is minimized with steeply inclined tank walls, a centrally mounted agitator and the trough-mounted mixing auger. Power train demands are reduced through utilizing only two auger conveyors to transfer material from the hammer mill, mix it in the tank and elevate it for recirculation or discharge. Improved intermixing is provided through stepped pitch flights provided on the horizontal mixing auger.

Feed grinding and mixing apparatus

An improved mixing blade assembly is disclosed that reduces torque requirements and impact loading in a mixer. The assembly is particularly useful in conjunction with a mixer-grinder having an upright cylindrical tank with a substantially flat bottom and centrally located vertical mixing auger. The assembly includes a blade mounted on the auger for rotation therewith. The blade is generally parallel to and spaced above the floor and terminates inwardly from the tank wall so coarse material can slide off its end. The floor-to-blade spacing eliminates shear forces and impact loads that would otherwise occur as the blade sweeps over openings in the tank bottom. An extension member is pivotally connected to the blade about a vertical axis and is freely swingable between the blade and the floor. The extension member extends radially outwardly by centrifugal force to sweep close to the floor near the tank wall as the tank empties. When the tank is full, the member trails behind the blade to avoid packed material near the outside of the tank.

Mixer blade for a mixer tank

A hydraulic governor valve coordinates the flow of crop material to a processing unit with the rate of processing of material therein. A gear driven pump is powered by the processing unit in direct relation therewith to drive a conveyor hydraulic motor. The flow responsive governor valve diverts flow to a reservoir when the processing unit is overloaded and to the conveyor motor otherwise to coordinate delivery of crop material with processing of same.
