An apparatus for performing endoscopic surgical procedures within an internal body cavity. The apparatus includes an imaging unit for viewing the internal body cavity. In addition, the apparatus includes an intra-articular unit for providing a flow of fluid into the internal body cavity as well as for controllably withdrawing fluid from the internal body cavity. The apparatus further includes a cart which allows electrical intercommunication between the imaging unit and the intra-articular unit whereby the operation of the imaging unit and the intra-articular unit are interdependent.

Method and apparatus for performing endoscopic surgical procedures

A hand control for electrosurgical electrodes with the rocker arm current mode activating switch located near the front of the device. The activating switch allows a choice of coagulating current mode, cutting current mode, or neutral (no current mode). A three-position slide-locking mechanism allows the switch to be operated in one of three states: (1) complete freedom of choice of mode, (2) coagulating mode only, or (3) neutral (safety). A top-bottom symmetry and a sharp blade permit the device to be locked in the neutral position, inverted, and used as a conventional scalpel.

Hand control for electrosurgical electrodes

A multipolar medical electrode for attachment to the skin of a patient for deriving separate electrical signals from spaced locations indicative of physiological activity is provided. A flexible pad of nonconductive material has a pair of well members which each contain an electrolytic gel to make contact with the patient's skin when an adhesive backing is removed. An electrical connector for connecting the electrode pad to an electrical potential measuring instrument includes a nonconductive body having a pair of spaced conductive prongs connected by wires to the electrical potential measuring instrument. The prongs are inserted respectively through a puncturable membrane in the respective well members, making intimate contact with the electrolytic gel and have a generally box-shaped housing attached to the nonconductive body protects the prongs and slidably engages the outer surfaces of the well members to assist in guiding the prongs into the well members.

Multipolar medical electrode

A method and apparatus for the automatic testing of electronic equipment in which a general purpose digital computer is programmed for the equipment to be tested to generate appropriate stimulus waveforms for application to the equipment to be tested and for the measurement and evaluation of the waveforms responsively generated by the equipment tested. The computer directly controls the point-by-point generation of the analog stimulus waveforms by a plurality of analog to digital and analog to synchro converters, the application of the stimulus waveforms to selected leads of the unit to be tested, and the application of the response waveforms to a selected measurement circuit for conversion to digital form for subsequent evaluation by the computer against programmed standards.
