A seat includes a seat frame and a resilient web supported by the seat frame. The web is adapted for movement between an at rest condition in which no operator is seated on the seat, and a deflected condition in which the web is deflected with respect to the frame in response to an operator seated on the seat. A switch actuator is mounted to the web and is movable between a non-actuating position when the web is in the at rest condition and an actuating position when the web is in the deflected condition. A switch is mounted to the frame, the switch includes first and second parts movable with respect to each other to open and close an electrical circuit in response to the switch actuator moving between the non-actuating and actuating positions. A distal end of the switch actuator engages the switch at least when the switch actuator is in the actuating position.

Seat assembly with ignition switch and switch actuator

A seat includes a seat frame and a resilient web supported by the seat frame. The web is adapted for movement between an at rest condition in which no operator is seated on the seat, and a deflected condition in which the web is deflected with respect to the frame in response to an operator seated on the seat. A switch actuator is mounted to the web and is movable between a non-actuating position when the web is in the at rest condition and an actuating position when the web is in the deflected condition. A switch is mounted to the frame, the switch includes first and second parts movable with respect to each other to open and close an electrical circuit in response to the switch actuator moving between the non-actuating and actuating positions.

A vehicle seat assembly having a seat mounted on a knee action suspension mechanism and hand controls for the operation of the vehicle that are mounted on the same suspension mechanism as a seat. More particularly, a seat assembly for a vehicle including a seat having a forward portion and a rearward portion. The seat assembly includes a knee action suspension mechanism mounted under the seat and resiliently supporting the seat for resilient movement such that the rearward portion of the seat is vertically movable and the forward portion of the seat is generally pivotable about a longitudinal axis adjacent the forward portion of the seat. The seat assembly has an armrest assembly supported for movement with the seat, the armrest assembly has a forward end and a hand control is connected to the forward end of the armrest assembly. The suspension mechanism includes a generally horizontal plate, the plate forms a unitary rigid support structure for the seat and the armrest assembly such that the seat and the armrest assembly move together. The armrest assembly is connected to and supported by the plate for movement with the seat. The armrest assembly is pivotally connected to the plate for pivotal movement with respect to the seat. The armrest assembly includes an armrest and a hand control carrier for supporting the armrest and the hand control for selective forward and rearward movement of the hand control and armrest with respect to the seat.

Knee action suspension control seat

A seat including a base; a housing vertically movable relative to the base; a pivot arm assembly pivotally movable relative to the housing between upwardly and downwardly pivoted positions; a seat cushion bracket movable relative to the housing in response to pivotal movement of the pivot arm assembly; and an air spring having a lower end fixed relative to the housing for movement therewith relative to the base, and the air spring having an upper end connected to the pivot arm assembly to bias the pivot arm assembly toward the upwardly pivoted position.

Knee action suspension seat

A vibration compensating vehicle seat suspension combines the vertical movement of the parallelogram suspension with the pivoting of the knee-pivot suspension. Three embodiments all include a horizontal pivot for pivoting of the seat, and a sublinkage for simultaneous vertical movement of the seat. A first embodiment includes a horizontal pivot and a vertical slide for sliding of the pivot. A rocking lever which rocks due to pivoting of the seat causes sliding of the pivot. A second preferred embodiment includes a horizontal pivot and a linkage for vertical movement of the front of the seat. A third preferred embodiment includes a horizontal pivot, a vertical slide, and a spring for biasing the pivot.

Floating knee pivot suspension

A cam operated locking device for selectively locking or releasing an isolator frame for a seat that is slidable longitudinally on a support. The seat includes insolator frame has a locking recess therein. The locking device includes a U-bar housing affixed to a bracket on the support. There is a lever rod rotatable and slidable within the U-bar housing that is adapted to engage the recess in said isolator frame for locking the seat with respect to the bracket. Cam means including at least one pair of cam surfaces are formed on the U-bar housing. The lever rod carries a pin, which extends transversely within the U-bar housing and cooperates with the cam means. Spring means are disposed about the lever rod for biasing the lever rod into the recess in the seat frame. A handle is secured to the lever rod for rotating same. When the lever rod is in a first position on the cam means, the spring means will bias the lever rod into engagement with the recess. When the lever rod is rotated to a second overcenter position, the lever rod will be moved and retained out of engagement with the recess.
