Thermoplastic sheet comprising plasticized polyvinyl butyral has a regular pattern of ridges and channels integrally formed and arranged in each face at an angle of intersection with respect to each other of at least 25 degrees, the ridges tapering to flattened V-shaped peaks of tight radius of less than 0.0034 inch, each face of the sheet having a surface permanence of at least 70%.

A method of preparing a prelaminate for a safety glazing which involves providing a thermoplastic interlayer having a first air removal surface which includes a multiplicity of microscopic embossments of substantially identical shape integrally projecting from the plane of one side of the interlayer in a regular pattern of rows and a second air removal surface on the other side of the interlayer which is different from the first air removal surface and includes a multiplicity of microscopic peaks and valleys of varying heights and depths arranged in an irregular, non-linear pattern, interposing the interlayer between two layers of glass and deairing the interfaces with the glass layers during which the first air removal surface is partially transferred to and imposed on the second air removal surface to provide deair paths of reduced obstruction.

A thermoplastic interlayer, such as of polyvinyl butyral, has a regular pattern of deairing channels formed in each side which are angularly arranged with respect to each other wherein, to avoid moire, the angle of intersection is at least 25 degrees, preferably 90 degrees.

Rough-surfaced interlayer

A device for producing fresh water from salt sea water by utilizing the hydrodynamic energy of waves, comprising a buoyant platform; means for mooring the platform; a pump connected to the mooring means; a reservoir for pressurized sea water; a desalination system for extracting fresh water from the sea water; hydraulic flow control means for causing the pump to pump sea water into the sea water reservoir, as motion of the buoyant platform is produced due to the passing of waves beneath it; measuring means for measuring parameters of the sea adjacent the buoyant platform; and a control device connected to control the pressure in the sea water reservoir and the flow of sea water from the reservoir through the desalination system in response to the parameters of the sea.
