An adhesive face patch for the support of an oxygen tube for the purpose of supplying supplemental oxygen to a patient includes a body formed generally in the shape of a three-leaf clover with petals which are bendable with respect to each other at a central section to conform to a patient's cheek contour at the maxillary prominence, includes tube-receiving pedestals or posts formed in pairs on lateral petals to receive an oxygen tube and to cause the tube be held in a curved state to redirect the tube to or toward the nostril, and a center pedestal over which the tube may be looped after adjusting for comfort, so that the oxygen tube may have a slight upward thrust to assist in supporting the nasal insert and retaining the same in place.

A nosepiece for the administration of supplemental oxygen to a patient through a nasal cavity includes a hollow stem which has one end adapted for the application of oxygen thereto and which has a remote end adapted to be received within a nostril of a patient. A plurality of flexible locating fingers integrally extend from the remote end and are folded back to an outer surface of the stem and are retained in an adjusted position on the stem by an encircling O-ring. The effective width of the nosepiece may be adjusted by sliding the O-ring along the stem to cause the fingers to either lie flatter or bow outwardly from the stem to provide comfort in the retention of the nosepiece within the nasal cavity.

Nosepiece for administering supplemental oxygen

Foreign material is removed from a shaft or rod of a hydraulic cylinder by a surrounding wiper or scraper ring formed in two semicircular mating sections. The sections have surfaces forming a shaft engaging scraping edge and also have axially spaced walls which define a circumferentially extending external groove. The ring sections are mounted on the rod or shaft and are coupled together or retained by a resilient spring wire having undulations which extend within the radial groove. Closely spaced opposite end portions of the retaining wire are curled to form eyelets and project laterally from the groove into an undercut recess which intersects the groove. The eyelets are adapted to receive the tips of a tool for releasably positioning the end portions of the retaining wire within the undercut recess.

Scraper ring for cleaning a hydraulic cylinder rod or shaft

A portable, self-contained system for producing nitric acid from a supply of electricity and water, incorporates a nitrogen generating unit including a cabinet enclosing a manifold defining a plurality of series connected air combustion chambers each having one electrode concentric within a restricting orifice defined by a second electrode. The unit also includes an air compressor for supplying air which spirals through each combustion chamber to rotate the arc within the orifice, and each combustion chamber is exposed for viewing through a corresponding lens. The system also incorporates a liquid fertilizer generator unit including a closed plastic tank containing water and a submersible pump which recirculates the water through an aspirator where nitrogen gas is introduced into the water and then through a long plastic absorption tube coiled within the tank. The compressor also supplies additional oxygen to the tank for further converting nitrous oxide to nitric acid.

Method and apparatus for producing a nitrate fertilizer

A thermally sensitive switch is provided with two parallel lead wires or conductive members which are confined within a two section insulated housing. Electrical continuity between members is established by a conductive contact element which bridges the two conductive members to provide a continuous electrical path. The contact element is held in place by a temperature sensitive material which changes state at a predetermined temperature and by a spring element which exerts a force on the pellet through the contact element. When the temperature sensitive material changes state, the spring force drives the contact between the conductive members to effect a snap-action instantaneous interruption of the electrical circuit. The construction and assembly of the components provide for minimizing the production cost of the switch.

Thermal protective switch

Exhaust air from an air tool or other air actuated device is directed into an air expansion chamber separated by slots from a second chamber containing a predetermined volume of small unconnected particles, such as small pellets of reground plastic scrap material. The plastic pellets or particles loosely fill the second chamber so that each particle is free to move in response to air flow between the particles so that the particles are self-cleaning. In the embodiment illustrated, all of the components of the muffler are formed of a plastics material, and a threaded tubular portion provides for attaching the muffler to an air actuated device.

Muffler for exhaust air or other gas

Pressurized air is directed into a generally spherical combustion chamber to rotate an electrical arc within a circular aperture formed within an electrode element disposed within the center portion of the chamber. The air is directed through the aperture and the whirling arc to produce a nitrogen dioxide gas which is immediately aspirated into a recirculating flow of water. The water is directed through an elongated tube forming an absorption coil where the gas is absorbed into the water to form a dilute acid solution usable as a nitrate fertilizer.

Secondary and tertiary air passages through the air nozzle surround the primary compressed air passage and induce a flow of low pressure air which surrounds the stream of compressed air to reduce the noise to acceptable levels. When the outlet end of the nozzle is blocked, flow through the tertiary air passages reverses to allow the compressed air to escape therethrough.

Low noise air nozzle

A plastic film sealer has a thermostatically controlled heated bar which can move inwardly and outwardly through an opening in the sealer housing. A high temperature plastic film is attached across the opening and interposed between the heated bar and the layers of heat sealable plastic film being heat sealed. The movement of the heated bar and of the high temperature plastic film is limited substantially to perpendicular movement relative to the plane of the heat sealable plastic film layers.
