A photoconductive imaging member containers of a supporting substrate, and thereover a single layer comprised of a mixture of a photogenerator component, a charge transport component, an electron transport component, and a polymer binder, and wherein the photogenerating component is a pigment.

Imaging members

A member including for example, a supporting layer and a single photogenerating layer, the photogenerating layer comprising particles including hydroxygallium phthalocyanine phthalocyanine Type V, x polymorph metal free phthalocyanine, or chlorogallium phthalocyanine dispersed in a matrix comprising an arylamine hole transporter and an electron transporter selected from the group consisting of N,N&prime;bis(1,2-dimethylpropyl)-1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic diimide, 1,1&prime;-dioxo-2-(4-methylphenyl)-6-phenyl-4-(dicyanomethylidene)thiopyran, and a quinone selected from the group consisting of carboxybenzylhaphthaquinone, and tetra (t-butyl) diphenoquinone, and mixtures thereof, and a film forming binder.

A process for treating an electrostatographic imaging member including providing a hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member having an interior surface, a coated outer surface, a first end and a second end, the interior surface at at least the first end having a coating of adhesive material securing a first end flange to the first end, and propelling solid carbon dioxide pellets against the first end flange and coating of adhesive material with sufficient force to remove the first end flange and coating of adhesive material from the interior surface at at least the first end of the hollow cylindrical electrostatographic imaging member.

An electrophotographic imaging member including a supporting substrate, an optional charge blocking layer, an optional adhesive layer, a charge generating layer, and a charge transporting element including two sequentially deposited charge transport layers each including a hole transport material and an optional film forming binder. A first charge transport layer exhibits a first charge carrier transit time and second charge transport layer exhibits a second charge carrier transit time. The two charge transport layers are formed in one of two ways. First, each layer can be formed from a different charge transport material so that the charge mobility of the charge transport material of the first charge transport layer is about 4 to about 20 times lower than the charge mobility of the charge transport material of the second charge transport layer. Or, alternatively, each charge transport layer can be made using a different amount of the same charge transport material. In this case, the first charge transport layer includes of an amount of charge transport material that is about 5% to about 30% less than an amount of charge transport material used to form the second charge transport layer. In either case, the resulting electrophotographic imaging member exhibits a discharge surface potential at a light exposure greater than about 3 erg/cm , at a post exposure delay between about 20 milliseconds and about 500 milliseconds that can be raised from about 20 to about 200 volts above a discharge potential of an imaging member having the same components as the imaging member of the present invention except having only a single charge transport layer with a thickness that is equivalent to the charge transporting element of the present invention.

Electrophotographic imaging member having two charge transport layers for limiting toner consumption

A charge transport layer material for a photoreceptor includes at least a polycarbonate polymer binder having a number average molecular weight of not less than 35,000, at least one charge transport material, polytetrafluoroethylene particle aggregates having an average size of less than about 1.5 microns and a fluorine-containing polymeric surfactant dispersed in a solvent mixture of at least tetrahydrofuran and toluene. The dispersion is able to form a uniform and stable material ideal for use in forming a charge transport layer of a photoreceptor. The resultant charge transport layer exhibits excellent wear resistance against contact with an AC bias charging roll, excellent electrical performance, and delivers superior print quality.

Wear resistant charge transport layer with enhanced toner transfer efficiency, containing polytetrafluoroethylene particles

A charge transport layer material for a photoreceptor includes at least a polycarbonate polymer, at least one charge transport material, polytetrafluoroethylene particle aggregates having an average size of less than about 1.5 microns, hydrophobic silica and a fluorine-containing polymeric surfactant dispersed in a solvent. The presence of the hydrophobic silica enables the dispersion to have superior stability by preventing settling of the PTFE particles. A resulting charge transport layer produced from the dispersion exhibits excellent wear resistance against contact with an AC bias charging roll, excellent electrical performance, and delivers superior print quality.

Photoreceptor with poly (vinylbenzyl alcohol)

A crosslinkable charge transport layer material for a photoconductor includes at least one poly(arylene ether alcohol), at least one polyisocyanate crosslinking agent and at least one charge transport material dispersed in a solvent. The crosslinkable charge transport layer material is crosslinked following application of the coating solution to the photoconductor. The photoconductor including such crosslinked charge transport layer exhibits excellent wear resistance so as to have long life, thereby reducing the cost of electrophotographic printing machines employing such photoconductors therein.

A photoreceptor including: (a) a substrate; (b) a charge blocking layer including a plurality of light scattering particles dispersed in a binder, wherein the light scattering particles have a refractive index different from the binder and wherein the light scattering particles have a number average particle size greater than about 0.8 micrometer and have a surface roughness defined by a specific surface area greater than about 50 m.sup.2 /gm; and (c) an imaging layer.
