A system comprises processing circuitry configured to receive position data from a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receiver and to receive a first vehicle height above terrain (HAT) from HAT circuitry. A lateral position and an altitude are derived from the position data. The processing circuitry is further configured to determine terrain elevation based upon the lateral position. The processing circuitry is further configured to determine a second vehicle height above terrain (HAT) based upon subtracting the determined terrain elevation from the altitude. The processing circuitry is further configured to detect GNSS spoofing based upon a difference between the first vehicle HAT and the second vehicle HAT; and upon detecting GNSS spoofing, issue an alert.

In one example, a system for a preventing unauthorized access to operational aircraft data is provided. The system includes a server configured to be positioned on an aircraft. The server configured to communicate with a portable electronic device and a plurality of aircraft systems, wherein the server is configured to unidirectionally communicate with the plurality of aircraft systems, wherein the server is configured to receive avionic operational data from the plurality of aircraft systems. The server is further configured to implement security measures to prevent unauthorized electronic devices from accessing the avionic operational data produced by the plurality of aircraft systems. The server is further configured to control dissemination of avionic operational data to electronic devices.

System for preventing unauthorized access to operational aircraft data

Embodiments of the present invention provide improved systems and methods for a programmable portable electronic device for airborne operational communications. In one embodiment, a system for preventing unauthorized access to operational aircraft data comprises a personal electronic device and a plurality of aircraft systems that produce avionic operational data. The system further comprises an airborne server in network communication with the personal electronic device and the plurality of aircraft systems, wherein the airborne server implements security measures to prevent unauthorized electronic devices from accessing the avionic operational data, wherein the airborne server controls the dissemination of avionic operational data to electronic devices.

A system comprises a physical display unit and an aircraft system component. The aircraft system component is configured to output a first signal for display according to a first display format. The system also includes an abstraction component configured to generate a virtual display page according to the first protocol based on the signal received from the aircraft system component and to map the virtual display page into two or more modified pages. Each of the modified pages is configured according to a second display format and corresponds to a respective portion of the virtual display page. The abstraction component is further configured to output a second signal comprising a first of the two or more modified pages to the physical display unit for display according to the second display format. The abstraction component is configured to output a signal comprising a second modified page based on user input.

System and method for abstracting a display

Embodiments of the present invention provide improved systems and methods for a programmable portable electronic device for airborne operational communications. In one embodiment, a method comprises loading application configuration information onto a storage medium on the portable electronic device from an external storage medium, the application configuration information defining an application configuration for the avionic operational data communications application and configuring an avionic operational data communications application stored in the storage medium on the portable electronic device according to the application configuration information stored in the storage medium. Further, the method includes receiving avionic operational data from an airborne server; executing the avionic operational data communications application to process the avionic operational data, wherein the execution of the avionic operational data communications application produces operational communications according to the application configuration information stored in the storage medium; and communicating the operational communications with a ground peer.

Programmable portable electronic device for airborne operational communications

Methods and apparatus are provided for a color liquid crystal display (CLCD). The apparatus includes a processor coupled to the CLCD for receiving a character code and a color code and translating them into character and color pixel arrays that are overlaid and summed to produce a composite pixel array corresponding to the CLCD pixel array, where each entry in the composite array is used in conjunction with a color table to establish drive levels for each pixel in the CLCD. The character pixel array includes gray level color mixing and the color pixel array includes spatial shading color mixing, so that the composite array uses both techniques to determine the individual CLCD pixel drive levels to provide a wider range of color choices without significant color dependence on viewing angle.
