Novel herbicide and pesticide formulations in flowable form are disclosed and are prepared by combining free acid forms of the active ingredients with unreactive aluminum hydroxide gels.

Flowable herbicide and pesticide formulation

Soybean crop yield can be increased by the foliar application of small amounts of trialkyl-2,4-dichlorobenzylammonium chlorides during certain stages of growth. Application to the Northern indeterminate varieties is at a rate of about 0.25-0.5 lb./acre during the 5-8 trifoliate leaf stage and application to the Southern determinate varieties is at a rate of about 0.5-0.75 lb./acre during the 10-11 trifoliate leaf stage.

Method for increasing soybean yield

1-(4-Butylphenyl)-1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-2-nitroalkanes are novel compounds, possessing a broad range of insecticidal effectiveness, which when admixed with 1-(p-alkylphenyl)-1-(p-alkoxyphenyl)-2-nitroalkanes provide synergistic insecticidal compositions effective at low concentrations.

1-(4-Butylphenyl)-1-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-2-nitroalkanes and

1,1-diphenyl-2-nitroalkanes, p-C.sub.4 -C.sub.6 alkyl, p'-ethoxy substituted, are novel compounds which combine broad range insecticidal activity coupled with biodegradability and environmental safety.
