The invention comprises a method and apparatus for managing a multicast tree using SIP, SOAP, HTTP, or similar signaling between a multicast receiver (e.g., user device) and a third party system (e.g., a content provider system). The method includes receiving at least one request for modifying the multicast tree, determining at least one multicast tree change in response to the at least one request for modifying the multicast tree (where the at least one multicast tree change is operable for modifying the multicast tree according to the at least one request), and generating at least one message operable for implementing the at least one multicast tree change. The at least one request and the at least one message are implemented in a manner tending to minimize consumption of network resources.

Method and apparatus for managing a multicast tree using a multicast tree manager and a content server

A multi-channel processing module is arranged in series with multiple channels of a communication system. The processing module synchronizes downstream symbols among the channels, and synchronizes downstream symbols for at least a given one of the channels with upstream symbols for that channel. The synchronization of downstream symbols among the channels and the synchronization of downstream symbols for at least the given channel with upstream symbols for that channel are collectively achieved by adjusting downstream and upstream adjustable delay elements associated with respective downlink and uplink signal paths in the multi-channel processing module. The channels may comprise respective subscriber lines of a DSL communication system.

Methods and apparatus for providing synchronization in a multi-channel communication system

In the method of handling overlapping notification requests in a network with an open application programming interface, a response is received from a server to a notification request sent to the server based on a notification request entry in a plist. The notification request requests access to at least one object. Then, notification request entries in an rlist associated with the notification entry in the plist are identified, and the response is sent to an application associated with one of the identified notification request entries in the rlist. When a new notification request is received from an application, the new notification request is added to the rlist, and at least one of the plist and links between the notification request entries in the rlist and plist are altered. When a disable request requesting that a notification request be disabled is received from an application, at least one of the plist and links between the notification request entries in the plist and the rlist are altered.
