A reinforcement implant comprises a cantilever part for spanning a resected area of a lamina and an anchoring part at opposite ends of the cantilever part. The first anchoring part has a pressure surface for bearing on the spinous process of the vertebra, and the second anchoring part has a transverse thrust surface for bearing on an outer face of the lamina. The pressure surface and the transverse thrust surface enclose an obtuse angle. An anti-shear device (e.g., a facet screw) is arranged on the transverse thrust surface, and one edge of the transverse thrust surface is adjoined by a load-bearing area of the cantilever part. The implant can thus be mounted in place from outside without needing to be pushed with a load-bearing action into the resected area. The resection surfaces on the lamina are free of loads, such that unevenness does not cause problems.

A fixing arrangement comprises a retaining element and a clamping sleeve which receives a bone screw. The bone screw has a head and a secondary thread and is pivotally mounted in the clamping sleeve. The clamping sleeve has a radially protruding section on the outer casing of the clamping sleeve and at least one track of a clamping thread, which complements the secondary thread, in the interior of the clamping sleeve. In the unclamped state, a free path is formed by a clearance on the clamping sleeve. A protruding section engages into an opening on the receiving seat in a formfitting manner, and the thickened section is shaped to expand towards the rear in the form of a cone. The cone angle is selected such that the free path divided by the tangent of the half-cone angle corresponds to 0.5 to 2.5 times the thread pitch of the secondary thread.

A fixation apparatus comprises a holder and a tension sleeve receiving a bone screw, wherein the bone screw has a shaft with a front thread and a head at the rear end, and the holder has a through borehole with a receiving seat, in which the tension sleeve is mounted and able to swivel, while the shaft has a thickening in a rear region, to the front of the head, whose width increases toward the head, and the width of the tension sleeve is larger than the width of the shaft immediately before the thickening and smaller than the greatest width of the thickening. When screwed in, the thickening widens the tension sleeve so that it is pressed by its envelope against the wall of the receiving seat. In this way, an angle-stable pressing is achieved for any given orientation of the bone screw.

A fusion implant for a facet joint comprises a bearing module and a fusion module, in which the fusion model is arranged on the bearing module and has a holder for a transfacetal fastener, whereby the bearing module includes an expansion element and jaw elements, which have contact surfaces for the lamina on their outer sides moving away from each other and which are arranged to move longitudinally on a guide, so that the distance of the fusion module is changeable using the expansion element. The bearing module forms a secure and safe anchoring for the fusion module, which can be repositioned. In addition, the bearing module has the effect of an augmentation, and as a result treatment is possible even on vertabrae that are weakened by defects.

Fusion implant for facet joints

A reinforcing implant for the lamina of a vertebra includes a transverse support, one anchoring device for the right-hand side and one anchoring device for the left-hand side of the lamina of the vertebra. An expansion element with a guide device and cheek elements is provided, the cheek elements being mounted to be longitudinally movable along the guide device. Bearing surfaces for the lamina are formed on outer faces of the cheek elements directed away from each other, and a return stop for the cheek elements is provided. At least one of the cheek elements is provided with an aligning device for modifying the orientation of its bearing surface relative to the guide device. In this way, a secure anchoring of the reinforcing implant on the resected surfaces produced during a laminectomy can be achieved, with precise adaptation of the reinforcing implant to the actual anatomical conditions following the laminectomy.

Bilateral lamina implant

An implant set for insertion into the lamina of a vertebra includes several reinforcing implants, each of which includes a main body with bearing surfaces on the vertebra and a fastening device. The main body has a front surface, a rear surface, and lateral and medial side surfaces, the medial side surface being offset rearwardly in relation to the lateral side surface. The side surfaces bear on sectioned surfaces of the lamina, and a rearwardly protruding extension with a lateral bearing surface on a spinous process of the vertebra is arranged on the rear surface. In this way, the resection opening can be easily and safely closed. Sleeves can be provided for the fastening via screws that are oriented such that the screws are guided through the adjoining facets and fuse the latter.

A short nail for treatment of an epiphyseal fracture close to a joint in a long bone includes a two part nail supporting body comprising a main body having a transverse through-bore and releasably attached to a stub body. The stub body has an end that has a diaphyseal slant. The stub body and the lateral slant form part of a diaphyseal anchor which is attachable to the main body via the stub body and which has a flat connecting web that has an oblique orientation and ending laterally in a plane with the diaphyseal slant. A connecting device rigidly and releasably connects the main body and the stub body together. An anchoring device fixes the flat web in flat abutment against the diaphysis. A fixation pin is insertable into the transverse through-bore in a crossed arrangement with, and at a fixed angle to, the supporting body in the state of treatment of the fracture. The fixation pin includes a mechanism to protect against axial movement of the pin.

A method for manufacturing a lateral bore in a tubular bone for a bone nail to be guided through a transverse bore of a bone nail characterised by the following features; knocking in the bone nail introducing an elongate transmitting unit for energy into the bone nail and aligning an effective end of the transmitting unit, directed transversely to the axis of the nail, to the transverse bore in the bone nail; producing a hole which is relatively small in diameter by way of the effective end from the inside and drilling out the small hole from the outside, preferably to the core diameter of the bone screw.

A surgical saw has a sector-shaped saw blade mounted on a shaft. The shaft is surrounded by a coaxial second shaft to which an eccentric member is mounted close to a saw blade and parallel therewith. Both shafts and thus the eccentric member and the cutting blade can be rotated with respect to each other and can be fixed in their rotational position. Depending on the rotational position, the saw blade is either covered by the eccentric member in a rest position to be inserted in a hollow bone, or is indexed in a position to be freely and gradually exposed to make a sawing operation possible.
