Various embodiments provide distributed control plane functions for radio-based networks. In one embodiment, control plane network traffic for a first functionality of a control plane network function in a radio-based network is routed to a first control plane component in an edge location of the radio-based network. Control plane network traffic for a second functionality of the control plane network function in the radio-based network is routed to a second control plane component in a centralized location of the radio-based network.

Distributed control plane functions for radio-based networks

Disclosed are various embodiments that provide distributed user plane functions for radio-based networks. In one embodiment, data is received from a client device connected to a radio access network of a radio-based network. The data is forwarded to a user plane component of a user plane function. The user plane component is implemented in a computing device of the radio access network. The data is processed by the user plane component. The data that has been processed is then routed to a data network.

Techniques for transmitting channel state information (CSI) are described. In an example, a device determines a condition associated with a link parameter of a link between the device and another device. Based at least in part on the condition, the device determines a CSI packet period. The device transmits, to the other device and based at least in part on the CSI packet period, a CSI packet over the link. Accordingly, when the conditions change, the CSI packet period can be adapted to the changes, thereby improving the CSI transmissions over the link given the most current conditions.

Technologies directed to a secured peer-to-peer cloud-assisted authentication exchange protocol are described. A first wireless device receives a first request including information identifying a second wireless device. The first wireless device determines that the information matches second information. The first wireless device activates a virtual access point (VAP) with a modified service set identifier (SSID) having a group identifier appended to a first SSID. The first wireless device authenticates the second wireless device to the VAP. The first wireless device sends credentials and a second SSID to the second wireless device. The second SSID corresponds to a second access point (AP). The first wireless device receives a second request from the second wireless device to connect to the second AP. The first wireless device authenticates the second wireless device with the second AP. The first wireless device deactivates the VAP after expiration of an amount of time.

Cloud-assisted peer-to-peer virtual access endpoint

Technologies directed to coordinated dynamic analog beamforming are described. One method includes receiving, by a digital controller of a first wireless device, a data packet, the data packet comprising a destination address of a second wireless device. The method further includes retrieving, from memory, beamformer configuration data associated with the destination address, the beamformer configuration data comprising a phase shifter angle value for a radiation pattern. The method sends, to a beamformer circuit, the phase shifter angle value, the beamformer circuit comprises a power splitter and a set of phase shifters (e.g., at least four). The method causes the set of phase shifters to steer the radiation pattern of electromagnetic energy, radiated by an antenna array of elements, at the phase shifter angle value and sends the data packet to the second wireless device via the antenna array.

Coordinated dynamic analog beamformer

Technologies directed to determining a role of a network device, configuring the network device according to the role, and provisioning the network device to a network are described. In one method, the hardware configuration information and external connection information are stored by the network device. The network device determines a role using the hardware configuration information and the external connection information without any manual intervention or manual configuration. The role can be any one of a Router Node, a Storage Node, a Base Station Node, a Relay Node, a Gateway Node, or a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) Node. After recognizing the role, the network device can be configured and provisioned to the network without any manual intervention or manual configuration.

Dynamic node reconfiguration and provisioning of network devices

Technologies directed to antenna disconnection detection of distributed radio frequency (RF) ports in a wireless network are described. One method receives data from the wireless devices and generates an RSSI matrix including multiple elements, each storing a receive signal strength indicator (RSSI) value indicative of a signal strength of a wireless link between a transmitter-receiver pair. The method identifies a characteristic pattern in the RSSI matrix. The characteristic pattern includes i) two or more RSSI values in a same row being less than the threshold value and ii) two or more RSSI values in a same column being less than the threshold value. The method stores an indication that an antenna is disconnected from an RF port and sends a command to the second wireless device that causes the second wireless device to disable a radio that is coupled to the RF port.

Antenna disconnection detection of distributed radio frequency ports in a wireless network

Technologies directed to a wireless device with a Radio Frequency (RF) Decibel-Scaled Wireless Interference Detector that provides accurate energy readings of a channel through decibel-scaled output voltage are described. One method of the wireless device includes receiving a first RF signal via an antenna and converting the first RF signal to a multiple samples using a sampling rate, each sample including a digital value of a decibel-scaled output voltage. The method converts each of the samples to an energy value using a voltage-to-energy lookup table and determines a congestion level of a channel using the energy values.
