Described herein is a method detecting a plurality of upper respiratory tract sub-regions automatically. Volume of interest (VOI) is identified based on the extraction of certain features, such as regional properties and shape-based features. The complete airway volume from a patient's data is identified by observing the area and eccentricity profiles of the certain volume/organ in the skull. Maxillary sinus area and eccentricity profile in the sagittal view is chosen in the present subject matter for level 1 VOI identification. Once a level 1VOI is identified, the other sub-regions existing in the same VOI are further identified as individual level 2 VOI. Level 3 VOI is extracted based on the shape and geometric features of the organ. The extracted level 3 VOI is considered as the active contour that is followed by the initialized contour for the accurate segmentation of upper airway sub-regions.

Method and system for automatic volumetric-segmentation of human upper respiratory tract

Embodiments of a method for detection of plurality of three-dimensional cephalometric landmarks in volumetric data are disclosed. In some embodiments, a three-dimensional matrix is developed by stacking of volumetric data and the bony structure is segmented through thresholding. Initially a seed point is searched for initializing the process of landmark detection. Two three-dimensional distance vectors are used to define and obtain the Volume of Interest (VOI). First 3-D distance vector helps to identify Empirical Point and consecutively second gives dimensions of the VOI. Three-dimensional contours of anatomical structure are traced in the estimated VOI. Cephalometric landmarks are identified on the boundaries of traced anatomical geometry, based on corresponding Mathematical Entities. Detected landmark can be used as a Reference Point for further detection of landmarks. Estimating the VOI and detection of points continues till all desired landmarks are detected. The detection procedure gives three-dimensional coordinate locations of the landmarks.

Method for automatic detection of anatomical landmarks in volumetric data

A currency genuineness detection system using plurality of opto-electronic sensors with both transmission and reflective (including fluorescence) properties of security documents is developed. Both detection sensing strategies utilize integrated response of the wide optical band sensed under UV visible along with optional near infra red light illumination. A security document is examined under static condition. A window signal signature is thus possible from photodetectors responses for various kinds of documents of different denominations, kinds and country of origin. A programmable technique for checking the genuineness of a security document is possible by feeding a unique code of the currency under examination.

Fake document including fake currency detector using integrated transmission and reflective spectral response

A system for automatic detection of authenticity of security documents by measuring reflected components of incident energy in three or more optical wave bands. The system involves the use of UV-visible light source, an optional near infra red light source, photodetectors and associated sensing circuitry. Photoelectric signals generated by photodetectors from the reflected energy received from a security document are used to verify its authenticity under UV-visible along with optional near infra red illumination. The process involves measurement of energy reflected as photoelectric signals from a security document in at least three optical wavebands by suitably located photodetectors with appropriate wave band filters and the electronic signal processing to distinguish between a genuine document from a fake one for ultimate LED indicator display and audio-visual alarms, hence the detection of fake security document.

System for sensing perturbations in a distributed manner using an array of multimode fibers for localization (zone identification) of the perturbation, particularly, the present invention relates to a two dimensional array based speckle pattern sensing system having 4&times;3 (12) multimode fibers for sensing perturbation in multiple zones, said multimode fibers are imaged in parallel by a charge coupled device (CCD) camera and their speckle pattern analyzed by a conventional image processing hardware to determine the perturbations.
