A method for operating a time-sensitive network, TSN, having a first, high-importance segment and a second, low-importance segment, includes remapping, using TSN per-port priority regeneration, priority labels attached to data streams received on the first port and the second port to updated priority labels; splitting the data streams into a 'preempting' class and a “preemptable” class based on a mapping from updated priority labels to classes; and forwarding the data streams from a border network element to at least one next-hop network element. When congestion is present on a link to the next-hop network element, the forwarding of “preempting” data streams takes precedence over the forwarding of “preemptable” data streams.

Example approaches for power quality monitoring in a power distribution grid are described. In an example, monitoring data is received by a communication gateway from a node coupled to it. In an example, there may be multiple nodes in the power distribution grid. Local insights for power quality monitoring may be estimated, based on the monitoring data, using predictive analytics at the communication gateway. The monitoring data and the local insights associated with each of the plurality of nodes is transmitted to the server. Global insights for power quality monitoring may be estimating, using predictive analytics performed at the server, based on the monitoring data and the local insights. An indication to an operator is generated, based on the estimated local insights, global insights and the monitored data, to carry out preventive or corrective action for maintaining the power quality in the power distribution grid.

Power quality monitoring in a distribution grid

A method for generating corrected measured current in an Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) that is a true representation of primary current in an electrical network is disclosed. The method uses regression and a first threshold on measured sampled values from CT to detect a deviation instance that indicates a possibility of saturation. Wavelet and second threshold based detection of instances of saturation is then done. Then a regression based correction that uses a dynamic correction factor is implemented in real time to obtain corrected sampled values i.e. corrected measured current. Ending of correction is done based upon a predetermined selection criterion, The generated corrected measured current is used for protection and control functions in the IED. A CT output re-generation module as a functional module in the IED for implementing the method as described above is also disclosed.

Method for correcting effect of saturation in current transformer and an intelligent electronic device therefor

A protection relay is disclosed that generates a trip signal to operate a circuit breaker in case of a fault condition. A first module provides measurement and analysis of power parameters of the power line connecting the power equipment that is being protected, the protection being provided by generating a first trip signal for operating a circuit breaker connected in the power line. One or more second modules can boost performance of the protection relay by measurement and analysis of power parameters-to generate a second trip signal for operating a circuit breaker connected in the power line. The first trip signal and the second trip signal are logically combined to generate a trip signal that operates the circuit breaker.
