Aspects described herein relate to receiving an update value for a timing advance of a satellite link between the UE and a base station, computing, based on the update value for the timing advance, a portion of a timing difference between the update value and a previous value for the timing advance of the satellite link that is corrected by closed loop timing advance control from the base station, computing, based at least in part on computing the portion, a total value for the timing advance of the satellite link, and applying, at the UE and based at least in part on the total value for the timing advance of the satellite link and the closed loop timing advance control, an applied timing advance for communicating with the base station.

Techniques for controlling timing of wireless communications devices in non-terrestrial networks

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a message from a first non-terrestrial network cell indicating cell synchronization information for a second non-terrestrial network cell. In some examples, the cell synchronization information may indicate whether the first non-terrestrial network cell and the second non-terrestrial network cell are synchronized at a reference point. Additionally, or alternatively, the cell synchronization information may indicate a timing offset value between a first uplink time synchronization reference point of the first non-terrestrial network cell and a second uplink time synchronization reference point of the second non-terrestrial network cell. The UE may calculate a timing associated with signaling from the second non-terrestrial network cell based at least in part on the cell synchronization information. The UE may receive one or more signals from the second non-terrestrial network cell based at least in part on the calculated timing.

Timing synchronization for non-terrestrial network communications

Aspects present herein relate to methods and devices for wireless communication including an apparatus, e.g., a UE and/or a base station. The apparatus may identify at least one scheduling offset associated with a propagation delay between a base station of a NTN and the UE. The apparatus may also select a first scheduling offset of the at least one scheduling offset associated with the propagation delay between the base station and the UE. Additionally, the apparatus may transmit, to the base station, an uplink transmission based on the first scheduling offset, the uplink transmission being associated with a PUSCH, a PUCCH, or a PRACH.

Scheduling offset selection for NTN

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support non-terrestrial network (NTN) signaling between both terrestrial and non-terrestrial devices. A user equipment (UE) supporting such NTN signaling may receive a downlink message indicating a first configuration for a first transmission reception point corresponding to a first cell of the NTN, and a second configuration for a second transmission reception point corresponding to a second cell of the NTN. The UE may then perform one or more synchronization measurements to synchronize uplink communications with the first transmission reception point and the second transmission reception point and in order to perform multi-transmission reception point communications in the NTN. The UE may then transmit one or more uplink messages to the first transmission reception point, to the second transmission reception point, or both, in accordance with the one or more synchronization measurements.

Synchronization for multi-transmission reception point communications in non-terrestrial networks

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive control signaling identifying a configuration of a set of uplink slots for the UE to transmit uplink reference signals to a satellite. The UE may transmit, to the satellite, a set of uplink reference signals on the set of uplink slots according to the configuration. The set of uplink reference signals may include sounding reference signals (SRSs), positioning references signals (PRSs), or both. In some implementations, the UE may transmit the set of uplink reference signals in accordance with one or more timing advance values, where the timing advance values are indicated to the satellite by the UE, pre-configured by the satellite, or both. The UE may then, from a network node, an indication of a position of the UE based on the set of uplink reference signals.

Techniques for sequential uplink transmissions-based positioning for nonterrestrial networks

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine a differential UE-specific timing advance (TA) based at least in part on a difference between a first UE-specific TA associated with a current global navigation satellite system (GNSS) position fix and a second UE-specific TA associated with a previous GNSS position fix. The UE may transmit, to a non-terrestrial network (NTN) node, an uplink message at a time that is based at least in part on the differential UE-specific TA. Numerous other aspects are described.
